I'm home too!!
I just wanted to let you all know that athough I am still having some pain...my surgery on Tues March 29th went well with no problems! Thank You Jesus!
I woud also like to know if it is REAL important to sip fluids? I mean that I can take more than a sip without discomfort. I amalso experiencing my stomach growling, has anyone else experinced this?
The worst part right now would have to be this miserable pump.
Nancy
Welcome home Nancy So happy to hear everything went ok for you. About the fluids do what is comfy for you. I think the dr's probably recommend the sipping so you aren't gulping. the stomach growling will drive you nuts! It happens & it's common. Mine still does & I'm a year out this month. Take it easy get plenty of rest & push your fluids & you'll be fine.
Hugs
Carolyn
Just don't overdo it on your fluids. Drink more than sips if you want, but don't take more than a couple swallows (not gulps!) at a time. You don't want to irratate the new tummy. If so, growling will be the least of your problems.
Are you just on liquids? I found that mine made all kinds of noise at that stage but once I had something more solid going through, it calmed down.
I had gotten to the point where I was wondering how I could go back to work as it was so noisy.
Hang in there. This is a frustrating time of learning new ways of eating & experimenting. Don't get discouraged. Remember though that something you may eat successfully today may not work tomorrow. But, fortunately, it also works the other way. I still, at almost 16 months, cannot eat a few things but someday, hopefully soon, I will. It's terrible to have nice steaks in my freezer & not be able to eat them. It breaks my heart everytime I make them for my husband. One day I'm going to be able to eat a couple ounces of them.
Congratulations on joining the "otherside."

Nancy glad you are doing well!! I think my husband who was in the U of I hospital this last week was just 2 doors away from you. I thought that was you but did not want to ask. He was there all week. If it was you that I saw walking with your husband, you were getting around great!!
Good luck!! Were you on the 7th floor?
Shelli
yes that was me was me walking around with the "bald guy" and yes on 7th floor. Did your hubby have WLS? I think I know who you both are...you should have stopped in and said hi. How is your husband doing? Is he home? I think the UofI would have let me stay longer if I had wanted...but that was the last place I wanted to be! I said "It's over, I'm fine, lets gooooo!
Bye Bye
Nancy
I thought that was you!! We passed you in the hall a couple of times, I was with the other "bald guy" in a gown!! LOL!!

Hello
So glad to hear all went well and you are home!!! I too could drink more than the whole 1oz per half hour thing!!! At first I was worried, but now know it is normal.....just don't be gulpin or you will surely feel it! My tummy too growled a lot....it does get better once you start putting stuff into it......You will soon get the drain out and will feel almost normal I bet! It feels really weird coming out but isn't that bad, and Debbie usually does it right there in the room at your one week check-up! Take Care ....I wish we could have gotten together before your surgery....Let me know if you wanna get together now! Jesi
