11 months out!
Morning everyone,
Hope everyone had a good weekend. Just dawned on me yesterday was my 11 month anniversary! Where has the year gone to? AND do I dare say it??? I'm down 90 lbs AND according to the BMI calculator I'm still overweight BUT with 10 lbs of being IDEAL! Only 25 lbs from goal now!
I was moved to tears Saturday night (get weepy now & then it seems) when a young man I know came up to me & hugged me telling me he had read my story in the DM Register. Not only that it has given him the courage to follow through & have WLS. He's been reading up on it but said that my story & seeing me has given him the inspiration to go for it. We hadn't seen each other since shortly after my surgery.
I truly believe that each of us are an inspiration to other's that are suffering from obesity. People can identify with us & they can learn so much from us. Thanks to all of you for all of your support you have shown this past year plus some months. I still feel this is the best support "group" of all the State Boards. We are a great support family to those who are "newbies" as well as the "oldies" that join in.
Hugs
Carolyn
Hi Carolyn,
The months do go by fast and then you think back and realize what you have went through to get to this point and realize what you have accomplished. It is truly a great feeling. I never got to read your article but I am glad it is helping people. Education is the key to this surgery. Plus many other keys! But in general I believe and experienced that the general public is so uneducated about this surgery and believe it is an easy way to lose weight. They just don't understand that we still have to struggle we have to exercise, drink our fluids, take vitamins etc for the rest of our lives, that we can't just go and cheat and eat a big mac and extra large order of fries anymore. I have been trying to educate people before and after my surgery. I am so happy that your article is inspiring others to go for this surgery. I would do it over again in a heartbeat.
As for this site it is truly where I got alot of my information and support for my surgery. If I wasn't reading on the main board or the IOwa board I was researching the library etc. I am still learning and I am grateful we have this site. Well I hope your having a great day and happy belated 11 month wls anniversary! Later KimL.
