I don't have any problems at this time to talk about but thought I should get involved before I do so I know what to ask and what to do about any that should arise. I am 3 mos. post op and doing ok. Just haven't built up my stamina yet and wondering if it will come soon. I go for my 3 mos. check up the 22nd so maybe will get a couple of answers then. I enjoy reading your comments on others so far. Hope I will be able to help someone also. THanks for listening Cindy

Dear Cindy: Welcome to the Iowa board!! Are you taking your supplements and getting enough protein? Deficiencies can cause fatigue . Hopefully your Dr will check some blood levels when you go. Also ,are you exercising much yet? That helps build our energy levels some too. It takes time for our bodies to recuperate from surgery, and then with such rapid weight loss, that's hard too. I felt much more energy a few months back than I do now. I'm scheduled for labs and a check up, in a few weeks, I'm anxious to see if everything's where it should be! Feel free to ask anything, there's lots of helpful friendly folks here take care!! DeeAnn R

I think when it comes to stamina, everyone is different so it is hard to judge how you should be feeling. Discussing questions with your surgeon is the best way to find out answers. Every doctor is a little bit different in regards to their post-op care, not sure where you had surgery, but it truly helps to talk about issues on these boards. I have asked many questions on the Main board and the Iowa board, I think it is awesome to get other's input too. Getting in all of your liquid is VERY important as well as the required amount of protein. I need 8 cups of water a day, 3 cups of milk, and at least 50 grams of protein. I get in all of my vitamins as well, it is so important to do all of this. I exercise 6 days a week, I was an exercise fantatic prior to surgery too. Good luck!!! Tamara

Welcome !!! It seems like I was always asking the same thing.....people all around where saying I am 4 weeks out or 6 weeks out and never felt better....blah blah blah.....I was exhausted and didn't have much energy for anything for quite awhile! (we are talking months) It all depends on your life tho too....I have three small kids at home and a house to take care of, and bills to pay, and laundry, and so on and so forth.....even now 15 months out I am still tired a lot.....I think I will be until the kids are in highschool or something......granted I can do a lot longer walks and stuff I only dreamed of doing before......but at 26 I feel a lot older soemtimes because I am always tired!! And I have had all my labs done and I am great with everything......so it depends on your stress level and life......no you are not alone!!! Take Care and hope to see you around here more Jesi

Morning Cindy First of all welcome to the board! AND welcome to the losing side. I agree with the gals, everyone is different, but we have probably been thru the same thing at different levels. I'm 11 months out & still have days where I'm extremely tired. Make sure you get your water & vitamins in & get in the protein. I throw in an Atkins shake to make sure I'm getting my protein for the day if I'm lagging in it. Also another help is fitday.com if you aren't sure if you are getting in your calories & protein. It's a free site & it really helps. Don't be afraid to ask any questions, all questions are welcome. And remember we've been there so we will try to help in any way possible. Talking with your dr is a good idea. Oh, make sure you get your blood work done to make sure you aren't low on iron etc. I still go in every 3 months for mine, I want to make sure everything is going ok. Better to catch things early! Again welcome Carolyn

Welcome Cindy!! Though I haven't been on here long, I have found that the Iowa message board is full of wonderful and caring people. They are full of encouragement when problems arise, knowledge when you have questions and praise when you want to celebrate a milestone. You couldn't ask for a better bunch of friends! Welcome!! Glad you decided to post! Let me tell you, this website has been a godsend for me. I don't have a surgery date yet but I have been pre-approved! Keep posting and read other posts. It's the easiest way to learn about different types of things. You also get to know people real well. Everyone shares everything and it's a very comfortable place to be. Congrats on 3 mos. out and look forward to hearing more from you!! Hugs, jen
