Hi everybody Just got back from a checkup with Dr. Eibes in Grinnell, found out he is moving. He is moving to Des Moines, he's not sure which hospital yet. He is going to open his own clinic. He hasn't told anybody else, but I had overheard it from one of his other patients. He told me to go on a high protein and a low carb diet. Can anybody give me ideas for a high protein diet and a low carb diet? I know I should have asked. but I forgot. Thanks I love this place. Lisa Young

Lisa: The South beach diet, or Atkins either one would work. I got on line, and looked up the south beach diet. There is a site that is called the south beach diet for beginners. You can print off the food lists for phase 1(which is 2 weeks) and phase 2, which you follow until you lose all your weight. The first two weeks you can have no milk, breads, pasta, sugars, and starches. You eat protein and vegies at all three meals, and two snacks are required. It gets a little boring. I went on it to jump start my weight loss (I had a month long plateau) I did lose 5 lbs the first week! You do get to add some breads ect after the first two weeks. I'm struggling a little, but not too bad! Good luck!!! DeeAnn R

Sams club has a new book.....I bought it for my hubby......it was only like $9.00 but anyways it had a rundown of ALL the low carb high protein diets and the best and worst things about each.....then it kinda combines all the good stuff from all of them to help you eat the healthiest low carb high protein diet! It seems really interesting.....a lot of us end up eating a low carb high protien diet for the rest of our lives......I know I will need to as carb are the devil for me.....and with my PCOS I do have insulin resistance, so it makes them even worse for me! If you wanna know more details on that book give me a hollar, and I will get off of my big butt and give you the name and author.......maybe your library has it, or if anyone goes to Sams they could get it for ya!!! Good Luck and Take Care p.s. my surgeon also moved away after my surgery....but mine was like 7 months afterwards and he moved to like virginia!!! Jesi

Morning Lisa, I agree South Beach is great. I had run across a small book for just a few $'s & picked it up for my dad. Of course I had to read it! It was for beginner's. Go with the online one, same as the book it's very interesting & informative. Carolyn
