Wish Me Luck!!!!
My name is Bonny and this is my very first message!! I live in Waterloo, IA. I am 54, recently married for the second time (actually we have been married almost three years) was single for sixteen years. I have one daughter(24) and three step children (all grown adults). I have been totally addicted to this website for several months now. I feel that I can finally post a message because I have been all cleared with all my consultations, tests and everything else - this entire process started back at the end of July,2004. I am scheduled for surgery Monday, March 7th at 9:00AM. I spent most of the morning at Sartori Hospital and Dr. Glas****'s office. I am actually having a revision on Monday. I had a VBG done in March, 1993. I really was not educated on the procedure, had no idea what I was suppose to do after surgery - I guess I did not ask enough questions. I lost weight, but not all that I wanted to. I have had 17 or so scopes done since 1993. I always thought I had some food stuck which was the problem most of the time. I developed GERD and strictures. In July, I was referred to Dr. Glas**** and the journey began. Any words of wisdom/encouragement will be greatly appreciated. Have a great week-end!!!!
Hello Bonnie I hear good things about Dr. G and Sartori! Congrats on the upcoming surgery.....You are so close!! The old VBG had a high failure rate, so even if you had asked a million questions you still might be in the same place you are today! I hope this surgery works better for you with less problems.....strictures are NO fun, so I hear!!! I am in Dubuque but I am from Charles City.....so Waterloo is kinda my old stomping grounds.....I am there about everyother weekend it seems!! I don't have too many words of wisdom......just get lots of fluids, rest, and walking......also listen to what your surgeon says! I wish you nothing but the best Monday......a smooth surgery and a super speedy recovery!!! Take Care Jesi
Welcome Bonny,
There are several of us here who have gone through Dr G's program and are very happy with the results.Congratulations.
Are you aware we have a local Yahoo group just for his patients? Actually others are welcome to join if they wany but mostly we all had surgery by Dr G. It a wonderful source for support & information. If you are interested in joining us send an e-mail to
[email protected]
In addition some of us meet each month on the third Sunday evening at Bishops for an informal support group meeting. We've become good friends & would love to have you join us.
By the way, I also am 54. Isn't it nice that you don't have to be a young chick to get this surgery?

Hi Bonny.
I was at Dr. G's office today also for my 1 year check up wander if we crossed paths??? You are in good hands. They are an excellent support system there. It was almost sad for me today knowing I don't have to go back now for a year. Angela has been such a great support for me through out this past year. The staff at Sartori is excellent also. You will be back on your way to a healthier you soon. You are at the correct place for support. Any questions feel free to email me. Good Luck on your upcoming surgery! Kim L.
Well GOOD LUCK!!!! I will be thinking of you on Monday and I just know that you will have an awesome experience with Dr. G. I am opting to do surgery with him instead of UIHC. He has such a wonderful staff and I've heard that he's pretty wonderful too. I'm very happy that you've chosen Dr. G.
I am approaching my insurance approval - I'm trying to be positive!!! I wish you nothing but the best and please update us as soon as you can. We'll be pulling for you!!
Tons o' hugs,
jen
