I took everyone's adivce and pestered the clini****il they approved me financially (it took all of one day!) and scheduled me for pre-surgery tests next week! I can't wait to get started. Has anyone had an endoscope? What's that like and how do you have to prepare for it?

It depends on if you are having an upper or lower endoscopy. Upper scope is easier to prepare for, usually just clear liquids from midnight before the procedure. If you need a lower endoscopy (colonoscopy) then you need a prep the day before to "empty out" - that is not a pleasant experience, but not horrible. For either of them, you are usually sedated, and the procedure is usually "a breeze".

Thanks...I'm having an upper but wasn't sure if I would be sedated or not. Thank you!

Morning Collette Had an upper years ago & yes they sedate you. Amazing what a little pestering will do isn't it? Congrats & good luck. Carolyn

Hi Collette, Are they having you get the scope at Sartori or are you able to get it done locally? The gastroenterologist at Sartori is really nice. He did my colonoscopy & is the doctor Dr G usually has the scopes done by. I never needed one but have heard that the fear before is worse than the actual procedure. They have you very relaxed. Dixie
