I went to the Dr Friday,My blood pressure was still high so he increased it from 25mg to 50 mg now...Is scared im going to have a heart attack or stroke,That scares the heck out of me...So I have gave up diet pop,I havent had any chips or popcorn or salt for a month now so I guess I need to even change more. Probably most of us were on some kind of medication for high blood pressure. I kept taking mine for about 6 months after my surgery but not any more. A couple weeks ago I had my pressure taken & it was almost low and my pulse was only 48. They figured it was due to the amount of exercise I do. Wait until you have your surgery. You'll be surprised how many changes losing weight will make on your body . Those BP meds will be a thing of the past. Dixie

Hi Janelle, Did they just take pressure once? Did they use the "big" cuff? Makes a difference. Of course you are excited wanting surgery, any little thing will raise it. Take a deep breath. Go back & have your pressure re-read, if it's high my doc always has the pressure done 3 times just to make sure. And like Dixie says wait til you have surgery you will have yourself a when you throw the meds away! Hugs Carolyn

I high blood pressure went away after sugery too.....Hopefully the same will happen for you....It is also a hereditary thing too! Even now like 14 months out, I always ask the nurse or whoever what my pressure was....blows my mind that I am below normal sometimes!!! Giving up salt will help, but also maybe try a little exercise, they say that helps lower blood pressure too!! Take Care jesi
