Good morning and happy Valentine's Day. I'm posting earlier in the day to see if we get more responses. I'm sorry that I haven't been on the boards lately, and I want to get to know all of you, so please posts to say "hi" at least. My goals for this week are similar to last week. I actually did good most of the week with controlling the snacking and intend to make this week even better! 1) 3 meals, 3 snacks (or less) only! 2) No eating in the living room. 3) Eat only SITTING at the kitchen table and focus on family and eating. 4) Watch the amounts of foods that I am eating. 5) Brush teeth when I feel that I need to snack. 6) If I have to stay up late, (which happens often now,) drink fluids and chew gum instead of eat. 7) Get on here and read and post or reply to someone every day. That's enough for me. How about you? How are you doing? For the question of the week, where are you in your journey? Let's have a check for those that have not posted in a while, or for those like me that have not been reading as much lately. ------ I had surgery 14 months ago and am down 141 pounds and into a size 12 pants (whoo hoo!) I also have to note that I have lost many more inches since August when I started working out so much - even though the scale hasn't gone down too much. Remember, muscle weighs more than fat, (about 2.8 times more according to my trainer). Hope that you all have a loving day and get a kiss or hug from someone near and dear to you. Here are ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))) from me!! God bless, Andrea

Hi Julie!! So glad that you posted! Wow - an 1800 cal diet is sure hard, but I know that you can do it. Your surgery is right around the corner and whatever good changes you can make now will be useful after March 1st. Keep up the good work and remember that we are here for you during your wait! God bless, Andrea

Morning, Laurie! Wow, another new picture. You look great! Can I borrow your hubby - well at least his gift ideas? I can't really complain - I got a huge set of goodies from Bath and Body works - bubble bath, shower gel, a candle, and even some wonderful lotion with shea butter in it for my hands (that were looking like a guys because of lifting weights)! Do you like Curves? My mom is a member. I visited once this summer, but I had already joined the gym and like the variety that I get there. Good luck on the paperwork. Hope that insurance will cover for you! See you Wednesday, God bless, Andrea

Hi Janelle! So glad that you are able to join us here on the Iowa boards. This is a wonderful place with a lot of support. Are you looking into the duodenal switch, roux-en-y? What type of surgery? Have you gotten a lot of information from this site as well as other research sites? Hopefully the informational session will help you make a decision. Good luck and let us know how the meeting goes. Be sure to post if there are questions that we can help you with as well. Welcome and God bless, Andrea

Hi all, I am 14 months out also & am down 150# and my loss has slowed way down. I have lost only about 10 lbs in the last 4 months. I bought my first size 14 dress pants last week but for the most part am solidly in a size 16. Friday I had my pre-surgical appointment preparing for my abdominoplasty on March 1. Just 15 more days! I'm getting very excited. I had to pose for 16 photos for the nurse & that made me decide to do it at home also since I really don't know what I look like, especially from behind. Thank God for digital cameras! I set the camera up, set the timer, got in place & took the photos, downloaded to my computer & can delete them at will. I am making a scrapbook of my plastic surgery since I didn't do it of my WLS. Don't know if I will include the photos though but will probably have to. I'll just be very selective about who gets to see it. My goals are on-going. Stay compliant with my surgeon's rules, including daily exercise & be satisfied with a 1-2 lbs per month loss. If I can at least keep at that rate, I will get to the size I want eventually, just not as quickly as I was hoping. Oh, I also need to survive my yearly job review tomorrow! Wish me luck! Dixie

Dixie, Hey girl! How are you? Abdominoplasty - I'm envious. I have soooooooooo much hanging down now!!! I have been really disgusted with the thighs lately, too. They are starting to sag over my knees and I have NEVER had unsightly legs before - just fat - but firm fat at that! (Not really trying to sound like Dr. Suess!) Are you still working out as much as you were? Here I am thinking that I haven't lost much weight lately because muscle weighs more than fat and then yesterday a body builder fellow teacher told me that it takes a really long time to gain a TRUE pound of lean muscle. Therefore - I suppose that I am not losing because I am eating too much - for me, it would be snacking. So, last week, I had control several times in the evening and didn't snack in the living room, etc. Last night, I was wonderful. It was really a fight, but sat at the kitchen table with my little one and shared an apple and a couple pieces of cheese. Nothing more except for a couple of s/f popsicles (freebies for me) or water the rest of the night. Can you imagine what size you will be in after surgery? Don't buy too many clothes right now because you will be out of them soon! I keep thinking that I need to get pictures taken, but just can't do it! Will look forward to seeing your small little tummy when all is done! How did your job eval go? Hope all was well. God bless, Andrea
