OT ~ Roller Skating
One of the things on my list "to do" after losing weight was roller skating. We went yesterday and I had a ball. It's been probably 30 years since I've skated (I stuck to the 4 wheel kind) and didn't even fall down. I was pretty shaky at first, but after a while it felt just like I was 12 again. My 9 y/o son had never been and he's still not sure it's something he wants to do again. I can't wait for another chance to go. There were lots of kids to dodge and I might try going on "adult" night next time. Anyone else out there who likes to skate?

I'm right there with ya, Janie!!! Did you try going backwards? When I used to skate, I loved going backwards and doing fancy turns. Well, I took my daughter to a school sponsored event in October and skated with her. It was so awesome!!! She just couldn't believe that mom was going backwards! She even got scared for me, (not necessary because I had the jitters enough at first). I have skated one other time with her and intend to hit all of her skating parties! YEAH for us!!!!!!!
God bless,
Andrea
My d/b/f wanted to know if I could still do the backwards stuff. I tried, got about 20 ft and fell on my butt. Actually it was a sit-down!! Anyway, he got his big laugh for the day. There were so many little kids it was tough just trying to avoid them. And the music -- uuugghh.. Can you say rap! Eeeww. Like I said I'd love to go to the adult only night sometime and try again. My son was so stiff legged he just didn't really get the hang of it. But he kept trying and I was impressed with that. D/b/f has too many medical and balance problems and could barely stand up so I made him take his skates off. I didn't want a trip to the emergency room to top off the afternoon.

Hi Janie,
I haven't skated in years but have been watching ebay to buy some 4 wheelers for outside. They say skating is great exercise. I figure by spring hopefully will have some more of this weight shook off!
Anyway I thought I would buy some just to skate out in front plus ride the bike. Like you I haven't been skating in 30 or so years but am willing to try. The nearest rink for me is 30 miles away, but who knows may just give it a try some night.
