Does anyone have any suggestions for me...my current ins co. won't cover WLS. I am searching for insurance that will cover WLS. What questions should I ask? or NOT ask? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

first, keep in mind it will be very unlikely for you to find ins that WILL cover the surgery that you can reasonably afford. Expect to be paying anywhere from 500 and up per month for private insurance. Also, if you are able to secure coverage, your weight will be considered a "pre-existing condition" meaning they will cover their butt with a "pre-existing condition exclusion" We had BC/BS through my husbands work and I STILL had to wait 18 months because my weight was a pre existing condition. AND, do not let your current coverage lapse, or you may not be able to get any health insurer to take you on at all! The best thing would be to try and appeal to whoever your current insurer is and see if they can add a rider to include your surgery as special cir****tance.
