Update: Missing in ACTION
Hello to All!!
I have been lurking again for quite some time, but not responding much at all. I have enjoyed staying updated with you all, so I thought I would give an update on me.
Last May I was a size 24 and weighed in at 242#, I had surgery on June 2, 2004. All has gone very well with me and all my check-ups have been wonderful.
I am currently in a size 12 Jeans and Med. for tops. However, I did go shopping a couple weekends ago and bought two new skirts one in a size 10 and the other an 8. I am very excited now to go shopping for clothes and still can't believe that I am the size I was when I got married over 22 years ago. I currently weigh 150# and have been stuck there for over a month. I was very happy to not gain any weight over the holidays!!!
I am one of the few that does not dump. I can eat anything and I don't get sick. The only thing that bothers me is if I eat too fast or don't chew well enough, then I really hurt and I must go for a really fast and long walk to relieve the pain. I am getting better all the time at getting in the fluids and remembering to take all my supplements.
On a personal note, my life is crazy busy and getting busier all the time. My son who was out in Denver Co for school came home in October and is finishing school in Cedar Falls. My daughter finished High School this January and is 1/2 living at home and 1/2 living with the boyfriend (this has been a very rough couple of months in the mom department--send out prayers!) My oldest (brother's child, but I raised her and call her my daughter) is finally doing well and she and her boyfriend are in their own home and gainfully employed and announced that baby #2 is on the way. I hope it is not too soon and sets them back, but am happy for them.
Call me crazy, but I just didn't feel like I was multi-tasking enough so in November I started an online business and then sold it at the end of December. (Think lots of paperwork here!!!) I also agreed to run the after school programming Computer Club every night M-Th from 2:45 'til 6:00. So I leave for work at 6:30 in the morning and get back home around 6:30 at night. Now the really crazy news, I start my PhD program in Feb.
I am enjoying good health for the first time in many years and am doing all the things that I had to put off. So far I am really having a good time and not getting burned out, just very busy and being forced to be very organized. The hardest part of my life right now is dealing with my adultish children--you know the sort of empty nest and letting go! I am just not good at that part of my life.
My husband and I have really reconnected as a couple, between the weight loss, better health, kids getting their own lives, and just being happier and more relaxed, we are like newlyweds again both mentally and physically
Good luck to all of you and your journey! I will try to fit in more time online with some responses and support.

Hi Jackie,
Ok, how did you do it?? I started at 265 in April & am 184 as of this morning! My goal is 150 need to let me in on your secrets!!!
Who says being a parent is easy? Or once they grow up your job is over?! my twins are 28 yrs old & I still worry about them...a mother's work is never done.
You really have a lot going on in your life right now. Take care of you. Happy to see you quit lurking & posted haven't seen you around in a while. Take care & keep warm

I don't know how I did it exactly, cause I eat anything I want and as much as I want. Thing is I want good things now where I only wanted junk before, and I just don't eat much. I am only 5'4 so I should lose a little more weight, but if I don't I am happy where I am. I am just going to continue to do what I have been. I don't feel deprived and I am always full. The only thing I really need to do is exercise more to tone.
Yea, kids at the almost adult stage are GREAT (note this is me being sarcastic!!!)

Hey Jackie ~~ good to see you posting. It sounds like you are doing great!!! I've been doing a lot more lurking than posting also -- just too busy at work to get my "personal" things done too. ha ha
I also can eat about anything and my only problem comes in when I too much of "anything". A big gooey cinnamon roll put me back in bed yesterday morning. It was sooooo dumb, but I hope I learned!!!
Hope to see you soon at s/g. Maybe you can pencil us in to your schedule -- it sounds like you have tons of free time!!
Janie
You have done so great! Isn't shopping fun now? My hubby wouldn't agree. It sounds like your life is pretty crazy plus you're adding a PHD program! I'm in awe! You go girl!
Are you going to have time to join our summer get-together? More about it soon but we're planning for June 10-12th in Des Moines.
Keep posting!
