Advice...PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, here is what I am needing a bit of help on. I officially have insurance that will cover the surgery, I got it at the beginning of January. Now, my three month probationary period is over with in two weeks at my new job, and things are going wonderfully. I just don't know where to start with this whole thing!!!!! I don't have a pcp, I haven't had insurance to have one. If anyone can give me some guidance as to what I should do next I would so so so so so appreciate it!!!!! You guys are great!!!

You might want to check your insurance. Many require you to have a referral by a PCP but not all of them do. If you do need one, you might want tp post your city or area so someone can suggest one to you.
Once that's out of the way, just call a gastric bypass surgeon in your area & they will take it from there. Please don't just pick a general surgeon hoping they will do it quicker. Some will but you really need one who specializes in this.

Miranda - Ames is close to Des Moines and the Mercy Centers for Weight Loss located at Mercy Capitol has a terrific program. It is very complete from the very beginning to 2 years post op. They can also give you some names of physicians who work well with them and therefore are familiar with the surgery. They have informational meetings at least monthly. I had RNY on 1/4/05 by Dr. Cahalan and highly recommend this program. Give them a call for when their next informational meeting is. Good Luck!!! Mary
