Good morning. Sorry that I did not have time to get on here first thing this morning. How did you do on your goals last week? I did not do too badly, considering that I had PMS, (sorry guys!) My family is all still alive and kickin even with my stress of no kitchen, a dead furnace and PMS!!! (Just got a call that the furnace is under warranty so will only have to pay shipping and labor for the a new heat exchanger. And, yes, my furnace guy was able to fix it temporarily.) So, enough of my moaning and groaning. Here are my goals for the week - once again similar to last week's goals: 1) GET MY FOCUS OFF OF FOOD! 2) Eat 3 meals a day and no more than 2-3 PLANNED and CONTROLLED snacks. 3) Don't stress over no kitchen or furnace and don't eat or cook just because of stress because it ends up being a vicious cycle. 4) Be on this site daily to keep me grounded and accountable. 5) Give hubby some much-deserved attention. Sorry that you have to keep hearing about my stress and my kitchen. Question of the week - what are you doing for exercise? I hit the gym 5 days last week (YEAH!) I continue to do 30-40 minutes of pretty hard cardio daily. I talked with the trainer and will be getting new exercises this week so I can lift weights daily instead of every other day. I will be focusing on upper body one day and lower the next. I'm ready to move beyond strengthening and on to building muscle. Want to be buff by the end of the school year!!! A couple of plusses about all of this working out - my rear is "TIGHT" as my hubby puts it and nicely rounded now, (not just fat, flat and wide) and my arms do NOT do the wave as everyone expected they would. Tricep exercises are wonderful!!! Now, how are you doing with the exercising? Have a good week all and God bless, Andrea

Jesi!! You nut!! You know that I have more eating issues than you, so if I did not exercise so much, I would be gaining weight left and right. I just can't imagine being in the 150's! I'm still trying to get out of the 190's!! I know you, you'll be there soon! Now, can you just come over and cook and do everything for me so I don't even have to worry about food and let it consume my life???? Anyway, great job on the eating last week. Keep up the good work! God bless, Andrea

Hello I tried to get my goals done. I did get maybe a half a bottle of water in me, before I got sick. I made my dad put my gazelle (exercise equipment) together, he did it this morning, so I haven't seen it yet, since it is at their place. I have 40 pounds to go. And having problems. I'm never hungry. When I make myself eat something, it's like do I have to. I have been telling myself that yes I have to. I'm walking more. Goals this week: 1) keep trying to get more water in 2) get my gazelle in at my apartment 3) find an attorney - to get my benefits back from SSI and my title 19, I have been told I should go through an attorney. - not looking forward to it, am actually scared, don't know why. 4) get my apartment organized before Wednesday, - Wednesday I start back to school, Guess that's all Take Care Lisa Young PS I'm working to get a "new" picture on.

Lisa, You know that you need to eat and get in plenty of fluids daily. By not eating right now, you can do damage to yourself in the future. Please be careful, dear. Good luck with the attorney and SSI, etc. I have a step-sister that is a diabetic (I think it's called brittle diabetes) and she is pretty ill. She had to get an attorney to fight for SSI, but was finally approved. Good luck and hang in there. I look forward to seeing a new picture. God bless, ANdrea

I'm only two weeks [today] post-op open rny so my exercise is a little sad compared to the "old timers." I try to walk twice a day on the treadmill and I try to add one minute to each time. I can't do more than 15 minutes at a time. I stopped taking the painkillers on Friday, so the pain has made it hard to walk. Today is my first "feeling pretty good" day without them. I don't want to miss a single day of walking. I woke up this morning with no appetite. It's hard to force yourself to eat when you don't want to but I've been experimenting in the kitchen with things like pureed chicken cheese chili and miniature tuna sandwiches [just a saltine with tuna] and sugar free yogurt parfaits, etc. It's hard but I'm committed. Days like today... I just feel apathetic and tired. It's really hard kicking anything that is opiate based. My goals for the week, simplistic as they are: 1. Try to drink 3 bottles of water in one day. 2. Remember to take my vitamins twice a day. 3. Maintain 15 minutes on the treadmill.

Thanks DeeAnn I did twenty minutes/half a mile on the treadmill today and it made me feel awwwwwesome - best i've felt since stopping the pain meds. Slowing down is hard since I spend so much time in what feels like nothingness. But school started this week so I'm concentrating on that and I can't wait to get out of this tunnel. thanks so much for the support. it made me feel special.

Invisible, Wow - I never thought of myself as an ole-timer. You are so newly "out" from surgery that walking on the treadmill already is wonderful! My walks at 2 weeks post op were at Wal-Mart or other retail stores to finish Christmas shopping. My step-dad tried to get me to use one of those wheelchairs, but there was no way - had to get the walking in. I also wore a binder when out and about and that helped a lot. It sounds like you are doing a good job with the eating as well. I didn't want to eat for a while, either, I think that's normal. ONe of my favorite things to eat, when allowed on my surgeon's diet plan, was fat free refried beans with cheddar cheese and reduced fat Ritz crackers. I just enjoyed them. I hope that the pain isn't unbearable and that you can still take tylonol for the pain. Hang in there and keep up the good work! God bless, Andrea
