I finally think I am going to survive

Hi gang. I have been suffering horribly since my surgery. I had a terrible infection at the site of the gastric tube (which i did not need in the first place) and it got so bad. I have not been on my feet at all despite being 2 1/2 weeks out. I've had to go to the clinic every couple days for them to check my wound. It has all been horrible, just horrible. I did not expect to be the person with complications at all. The only thing that has really saved me is that I drink about 100 oz. of water per day and am religious about taking my pro-stat. I'm on a high powered antibiotic now and I think I am turning the corner a little bit at least today. I don't feel quite so sick. The drainage is less (volume wise) and the smell is a little less putrid. This has been the most horrible thing I have ever been through and I am no wimp. The scale at the clinic says I have lost 19 pounds, but I am not impressed. I've been too sick to even get dressed except to go for the appointments, so the weight loss is inconsequential at this point. I am a bit better, but if you can spare a prayer tonight, I'd love it if you could ask for healing for me. This has been terrible for my family as well. jean

Hi Jean: I'll definately put you in my prayers this week. 2 1/2 weeks out is so early to begin feeling human again even without complications. The whole weight loss thing becomes very hard to comprehend anyway until your quite a way out. I remember being sick alot until about 12 weeks out. Hang in there. God Bless and peace, Eileen

Jean hang in there, it will get better! I know what your going through...when I had my hysterectomy I got an infection and had to have my belly packed for 8 wks. My mom and my hubby took care of it for me as I couldn't even see it because of my weight, it was where the sun don't shine lol. I can remember how frustrating and smelly it was! I will keep you in my prayers! Keep us updated ok! Feel good soon, Janet S
