Help me get my rings off!!!!!
My surgery is Monday and they said I have to have my wedding rings off. Well......that poses a big problem for me. You see I haven't taken them off in a LONG TIME and I have gained a lot of weight (obviously) and there is a nice little indentation that did not get fat where they sit on my finger.
I am really afraid of this turning into a big deal here. I know if I start tugging on this ring, my finger is going to swell and then it will be an even more serious situation.
Before I start yanking on it, would any of you have some suggestions for me to try???
UGH!

Jean;
I was told I would have to remove my rings too. I absolutely could not get them off!! The day of surgery they asked if I could get them off, I told them no, and they taped over them. Hopefully they will do the same for you!!! Best of luck, hope surgery goes well, and your recovery is smooth!!! DeeAnn R.
Jean,
I have had this happen to me too. Soapy water works, also hand lotion or baby oil has worked. Also this may not be the most pleasent thing but if you can somehow cool your hands off. Go outside without gloves, or dunk your hands in cold water. I think this slows the blood flow in your hands and thus might shrink your fingers enough to help your ring off.
On another note, When I was expecting with my first child I had to have an unplanned c-section after going to the hosp. I couldn't get my rings off then. And the nurses covered it with a band aid. The only issue I see with this is that you may gain some weight before you leave the hosp and you don't want it to get so tight that it cuts off your circulation.
Let us know what worked for you.
