I'm 2 1/2 years post op. I've been battling a bladder/kidney infection all week. Finally on Friday they found I have a kidney stone. They said gastric bypass patients are prone to getting these. I had never heard of that, has anyone else had this problem? If I don't pass it by Mon at 6 AM they are going to remove it.

I am sorry you are going through this I knew it was a risk....It amazes me how some surgeons don't tell their patients of all the risks assocaited with the surgery! Anytime you lose a great deal of weight and have a diet rich in protein we are at risk for gallstones and kidney stones and such.....I was on medicine for 9 months to help prevent gall stones.....but the kidney stones are rarer and I dont think there is anything they can give you to ward them off.....Hopefully you pass it, but I hear that is no fun either....SO wishing you the best! Take care and let us know how it goes! I too had to have additional surgery after WLS and will probably be having yet another right after the new year, so I feel your pain Jesi

Morning Colleen, Yes, I had heard the same, but I would have thought this would have shown up earlier post op? Our bodies sure go through a lot that's for sure. Will keep you in my thoughts & prayers. Carolyn

Wow, Colleen, I hadn't heard of that at all, but doesn't surprise me. I hope and pray that all will go well for you. God bless, Andrea
