Osteoporisis anyone?
I had my bone density today. Not good. I've had osteopenia for about 5 years but never any change. Not so today. My spine has lost 17% more bone mass. I'm not at risk for fracture yet but it is a significant change. My rheumatologist ordered a bunch of lab work and a spine x-ray since I've been complaining of back pain since Aug. It just showed mild osteoarthritis which is pretty normal for someone my age. After he gets all the lab back I'll have to start on medication like Fosomax. If my surgeon approves of that one. Anyone else having this problem? And are you guys paying attention to bone density? If you haven't had a bone density, and you are 45, you might need to have one. It's perplexing since I'm not small stature, I'm not thin (altho I will be soon ). But my mom has it so I am blessed with lousy genetics. I've always drank a lot of milk and eating dairy. I take calcium religously. Not fair!
I also found out I have it along with fibrmyalgia. I have quite a bit of bone loss in my spine and my one hip. I am now on fosomax along with some other additions and take therapy 4 times weekly. I have had to forgo the therapy lately as my mom has taken a turn for the worse and she comes before myself.
