Help my mom's boss is a Jerk!

My mom called me in tears because her boss wont let her haev the day of my surgery off. My mom never ever calls in sick and has personal and vacation days... and they still wont let her use them. The Family Medical Leave won't work because I'm over 18! Can anyone think of anything else to help her get the day off. She works for head start and the reason they said she can't have the day is because too many people have been calling in sick lately, even though my mom has never called in!

She might have to get sick that day! Unfortunetly bosses have the right to approve or dissapprove vacation/personal days.....But if she is sick, they can't make her come in and get the poor kiddos sick! How far away from the hospital is she? Do you have anybody else going with you? Good Luck Jesi

I told my mom that she should just call in that day and she said that she's afraid her boss is crazy enough to fire her! I'm having surgery in Belvidere, IL which is only 30 minutes from me, but she lives near Burlinton, IA which is about 3 and a half hours from the clinic. Thanks for your help! Brooke

I almost had my surgery at the BTC in belvidere. It is 1.5 hours from me! Is anyone else going to be going with you? I don't think you can get fired for calling in sick one time....especially if she doesn't do it to often! Good LUCk Jesi
