Holiday Baking
It seems strange, or maybe ironic is a more accurate word, that I'm plannning what to bake for the holidays. My hubby, who also had WLS, can't eat it, I can (stomach wise, it doesn't cause me problems) but am trying not to eat it and I don't want my children eating all that sugar either. But on the other side, so much of the holiday season is sugar, sugar, and more sugar. I want them to enjoy the baking together, create fun memories, plus the fact that I have to bake for church, Girl Scouts, etc so baking is a big part of that. I'm not sure what to do. Any suggestions for healthier baking maybe?
Hey Misty,
how is it going. Well what i do is the splenda, splenda sugar mixture and equal and i use the brown sugar subsitute also. Go to the Obesityhelp backing and cooking site on here it is awesome and they have great ideas and recipes. I love that site and live for that site.....Well take care....Lynda
Make cheescake w/out regular sugar use splenda......I have a couple different pumkin dessert......Peanut butter cookies with splenda, and throw on a hersheys kiss for the regular people. There are a lot of great desserts you can make that everyone will enjoy......You can make low sugar/no sugar pies.......THe holidays are a lot about food, but since we are trying to change our lives, and the lives of our children, concentrate less on the food if at all possible.....do the baking, but make it fun by trying to make and find yummy good for you treats, your whole family will benefit from that!!! The recipe forum on this site, is very helpful with a lot of great recipes!!! Good Luck and Take Care Jesi
