As of this weekend I have the worst upper respiratory infection ever known to man. I feel like someone is sitting on my chest and I cough to the point of getting choked so bad that I . I am on two antibiotics, an allergy med, nasal spray and a cough syrup, and I eat cough drops like their candy. Surgery is 6 days away....what am I going to do? I go for my pre-op appt tomorrow and I will die if they say they won't be able to do the surgery. Melinda

All I can do is wish you luck.......If you have a high white count, showing infection, they probably will reschedule.....for your safety......If they do, it will be upsetting, but know that is what was suppose to happen!!! Also.....If they do go ahead with the surgery, good luck......man if I would have coughed after surgery I think it would have killed me.....it is painful enough.........The first time I sneezed I thought I would die it hurt so darn bad.......Wishing you the best and keep us updated! I went through the same thing, TWICE. First time i got an ear and nasal infection. The second time was strep throat. Third time was a charm. They may have to re-schedule so the infection dont spread from surgery. Best of luck and do not give up!! Randy

Hi Melinda, So sorry about all of this. It's better to postpone the surgery if you are sick like this sorry to say. Know you don't want to hear this & I don't blame you. Just wait & see what they have to say. Good Luck Carolyn

Hi Melinda, Maybe they will do a "wait & see." A lot can happen in 6 days and perhaps you will be well enough. If not, I'm sure the wait won't be long. Hey, I had to wait 3 months when my surgery was postoned at the last moment but that was to recover from a different surgery. Here's hoping you kick that cold really fast & you don't have to wait even one week. Dixie

Melinda, I know that it sounds depressing, but hang in there and do whatever the doc tells you to do. If he reschedules, it is only to protect you and help to ensure that surgery and recovery go well. Keep your chin up and let us know how your appointment goes. God bless, Andrea

I totally understand what you are going through! I went for my testing and was completely healthy. THEN When i got home that night I had the worst head cold. My doctor put me on a week of strong antibiotics and I was better in time for surgery, thank god! They may move you back a week or two, but you will appreciate it. A man got a sinus infection after surgery and I could hear him in pain with every cough and sneeze. You DONT Want to be sick in recovery. Its painful enough to heal but sneezing & Coughing are not helpful. Good luck!!
