Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. Back to the old grind today Yesterday Jennifer reporter from Des Moines Register & Andrea, photographer from Des Moines Register were here for interviewing/pictures. Andrea will be back a few more times for pics. The story will be running sometime in Jan. Soon as I get a date will let you know. They have also interviewed Patrick, the 1000 lb man from Nebraska that had surgery in Sioux Falls. Question to those who take hormones. Since I had my heart attack I can no longer take hormone pills. I have been having horrible hot flashes & I mean horrible. Told the doc & he said they have been putting women that can't take hormones on anti-depressants. Ever hear of that one? I have to admit they have really calmed down since I started taking them. They were never this bad before, I haven't taken anything since my heart attack. Got so bad that my glasses fogged over! And the night sweats were unbearable. Just curious to see if anyone else had heard this one, about the anti-depressants for hot flashes. Have a good week Carolyn

GM GF!!! So sorry I didn't make it up there yesterday, this cold has really kicked me in the butt! Iam so excited for you, please let us know when we can read all about you and Katie....autograph please lol. About the hormone thingy I have never heard of taking antidepressants for hormones, but do know that they are always trying something new, and if it helps why not! Got news this AM in my email that we get to pick our new puppy up on Sunday, I CAN"T WAIT!!!! I go back to work on Thursday, I think Iam ready, need something to do! Have a good week, Janet S

Hi Carolyn, Can you not take hormones at all? I never went on oral ones as they wouldn't know how much I would absorb so I went on the patch. Change it twice a week & have NEVER had a hot flash in the 15 months since my hysterectomy. I would recommend them to anyone needing HRT. Maybe you can't have replacemnt at all due tot he heart condition. Then I don't know but there are herbal things you might be able to use. Don't know if I would chance it. Good luck. Morning Dixie, No, can't take hormones due to the heart attack. BUT I will check into the patch & see if I could use it. I'm pretty put out with the PC anyway so am going to go back to the PA. So far so good though I haven't been having any hot flashes so maybe these will work. Thanks for getting back to me Miserable wasn't the word for it!!! Carolyn

Hi Carolyn, Are we related to each other???? They took away my hormone replacements when I had my heart bypass. I've been taking antidepressents for years (and years and years) LOL I've been switching around on them also. I'm still having a bad time with hot flashes and such. I discovered that if I use aspartmane they get REALLY bad. I would try anything (almost) so please let us know if anything you try works for ya. Altho things are easier when it's cold outside, I can just step outside. Good Luck!! Sue

Hi Sue! I knew I had a sister out there somewhere!! He has me on Effexor & so far so good. I haven't had any hot flashes since I started them. They were horrible. I hear ya about stepping outside! Speaking of that now with the cold weather have to watch ourselves about being out in the cold, what a bummer! I need to move south where I don't have to worry about that!
