Hi all....saw my reg Dr. yesterday for my pre-op physical for GB surgery on the 15th. Also talked to him about the numbing in my foot, and tingling in my back, he said we should all be taking B-12 supplements. He said to give the b-12 a month or so and if its not better than he will send me on to a neurologist. He is very upset also that we do not have a program for follow up, we don't even have a support group...so this is my next goal while Iam recovering from surgery, gonna try to put together a support group for my area! Also, my blood work came back good, he told me that just because the levels are good doesn't mean that they are good for me? Hope everyone has a good weekend, Janet S

Hi Janet, One of the things my Dr. stressed was that I would have to take B-complex after the surgery- I could tell this was not up for debate. I guess I just assumed that this was the norm?? Is the surgery still going ahead as scheduled for GB, even with the numbness/tingling? I think organizing a support group is a fabulous idea idea. I wish you luck with that. Just since I started posting, the support I get from the message board is so overwelming that I feel so much better and more informed. An actual group meeting would be just as if not more beneficial because people are meeting face to face. It is definetly a worthy cause, and I admire your goal in trying to set it up. You in my thoughts...God Bless! Sherri

Good luck with your g/b surgery. I was fortunate and they took mine out when I had my RNY done. Also, our dr. required daily B-12, B-1 and our multi vitamin. My 6 month labs came out great. I'm so glad Dr. G is so strict on our aftercare and following up with us. I'm only sorry all of you aren't so lucky. We have a couple of great support groups up here. If you want some ideas to copy let me know. Janie

Hey girl - glad that you saw someone. I am going to send you a copy of that study - hopefully will get it out today. What do you mean that the levels may not be good enough for you? Are each of our levels different and the norms aren't norms for everyone? Do you take a sublingual B12? I do, daily, but will have to ask if shots would make a difference. Do you ever have any weakness in other body parts? I have had weakness in my right arm on several occasions - including today. It just feels like the muscle does not want to work right. Don't know what is causing it. I also still have a lot of light headedness - how about you? My surgeon told me it could be that I am dehydrated, but I generally drink over 100 oz of water a day - don't even count the tea or coffee anymore (20 oz tea and one cup of coffee.) Why can't they just figure us out? Did you ever post this on the main message board? I haven't had time to. Blessings of health, Andrea

OMG GF! We have got to get to the bottom of this! Yes I do have weakness in my right arm as well, there are days that I feel like it is just hanging there!!! I just started taking B-12 pills, my Dr. told me that the pills are just as good as the shot. As far as the blood work, Iam assuming that they are submitted at a normal range and that is what he meant that they may not me normal for me???? I have had light headedness in the past but haven't had it here lately, so don't know what is up with that? I too drink alot of water daily but there are times that I do feel dehydrated, as I get diarreah than the dry heaves...strange I know! I did post on the main board but didn't get a lot of response, except for taking the B-12. Did you ever get your MRI results back? IF so how did they turn out? Will be looking forward to getting that in the mail...thank you! Keep in touch, Janet

Hi Janet This is interesting...what does he mean because levels are good doesn't mean they are good for you? Had my workup a couple of weeks ago, things looked good on mine. My calcium was a little high though. Are you having surgery in IG? Let me know gf. Right now no****ching the rugrat, Carrie decided to quit. What kind of follow up program would Dr like to see? I ran into a gal that has posted on here in the past, in fact she went to Sioux City support & she has dropped that one also saying basically the same as what I have in the past. Happy to know that I'm not the only one that feels that way about that group! If you need any help be sure to let me know. I didn't even bother going to Cherokee, why spend money on gas when no one not even co-ordinator shows? Told Dr. S that also. Let me know how you are doing. Hugs & love ya Carolyn

Hiya GF...Im thinking he meant that they are submitted at a normal range??? I know he was/is upset because there isn't a follow-up program for us like there is at Bariatric Hospitals. He just stated that the follow up is very critical!!! Yes, Iam having surgery in IG not sure on the time yet will find out more on Monday when I see Dr. S.
