Well, Haven't been on here in a while...but since my surgery, July 19th, I've lost 62 lbs and am down 4 sizes. Now I'm dealing with hair loss. So what do you all recommend? Just drink more protein or is there something else to slow it down? What can I expect? Will it grow back? I have really long hair so if I cut it a bit shorter will that help? I'm wondering about the added weight of the long hair. Thanks for all the help. Kelly B.

Hiya Kelly...I would recomend you getting it cut short so the thinning will even out! I guess I should say so it will look even! I too lost alot of hair and yes they say more protein, I only get my protein from food as I can't drink the protein shakes as they make me sick. What I found that really helped me was/is the product Nioxin for hair, you can get it at any salon, it is kind of expensive but it seems to last a long time and if it helps with anything it helps with the regrowth, my hair has come back fuller and curlier, its crazy! Anyway hang in there it'll come back!!! Janet S

Kelly, It's really great to hear from you. You should be very proud of your success. I hope you continue with it! I am a year and almost a month out and --- unfortunately --- am STILL losing hair. However, I believe that mine is due to breakage more than anything. My hair has become very brittle for some dumb reason. Thank God I had a lot of it. My hair dresser says that I now have a normal amount! I'm trying some new things and am hoping that it will change. On the up side, I do have a lot of new little sprouts starting to show. Anyway, it's wonderful to hear that you're doing well - take care!! -Deb W.

Kelly, Nice to hear from you again. Sorry that I can't be of much help because I have been losing hair for a long time. Mine was really long and curly, like in my picture, but now is really short and curly. Don't know why because I have done supplements and protein since day one. I still lose some, but not as much. Have to try Nioxin yet because everyone says it works well. I had a hair stylist tell me to cut my hair because the new, shorter hairs would never catch up to the long hair - and the long hair was looking pretty thin and unhealthy. Good job on the loss, God bless, Andrea

Great to see you posting again! We were wondering where you were and how you were doing. I'm almost at 6 months. I had about a month and a half of pretty intense hair loss. It's leveling off now. I know I've had enough protein, so I really don't think it was that. Probably the rapid wt loss. I would think cutting may help. Mine is pretty short already. I'm very kind to it when I blow dry it and style it. And I use Nioxin. Be sure your protein is enough. You should be getting at least 60 gms a day. Keep on posting!

kelly, for the hair lost i hated it....i lost so much i had bald spots it sucked i got 10 inches cut off. cutting it short helps alot. they tell you more protein and other stuff. this is what i did i to bioton and hair nurshinment and nioxin hair products. i took in more protien. this is what the lady that does my moms hair and my hair said. our body is going threw major shocks and it is adjusting. but it will come back in and it takes times...and you are doing a great job.....lynda
