passed one more road block!!

Hello all,just had to share!!I had my psyhc eval today and everything went great!He said he was going to tell my Dr. that I would do fine with the surg.YAHOO,just one more part to go and that one does bother me!Has anyone heard of a book called The learn Program?Well it is on weight management and i get to go let someone who has never been fat a day in his life read it to me,is that not a slam or what?It takes 3 app.for him to read it to me then I can have a surg date(kind of like dangling that carrot isn't it)!Now dont get me wrong I am sure I can pull some useful info out of the book for later but it doesn't even touch base with WLS so I dont understand the reasoning I guess except for a $ thing and 1 more road block.Sry that was a lttle vent happening over it now!!Well cross your fingers for me hopefully I am looking at a date in early Dec.Thank You for being here!Lori A.

The psychologist that I had recommended that I go through that program while I was waiting for my surgery since I had to wait another 11 weeks to recover from my hysterectomy. LEARN (each letter stands for something) is a program that Mayo required that their patients complete before they could have their surgery. It is all about what you think about food & choices, & life style changes. Does it sound like I read it? Well, I believe that I read the first chapter & then gave it to my niece. Perhaps they took the book & turned it into 3 sessions. I don't think I would enjoy it but you'll probably learn something that will help you later. Just think of it as one more hurdle. Dixie

Hi Dixie, thank you I am glad that I am not the only one that thinks this book is dif.and yep I am thinking of it as my last road block (I hope)there is a lot of good info in the book but not unlike any of the hundreds of diet books I already have sooo I will swallow my impatience and go to these last app that cover the whole month of Nov. and pray for sunshine in Dec .Take Care,Lori A.

All right Lori! When I saw Dr. Shinnerl last week he told me how he was referring patients onto this Dr. think maybe I'm the culprit behind this one, Janet can tell you the story! Speaking of her I haven't seen or heard from her have you? There is an end to the tunnel for you & soon you'll be a "loser". I have Janet's Barbara Thompson book yet which I think would do you more good. I just haven't seen her to return it think I'm going to have to put in the mail to her! Also she has both of Carnie's books & so do I...loved those! I got them from Amazon.com for like $6 per book, they were brand new. They are worth reading. Barbara's book is more for pre-op. We need to get together soon. Never know when I'm going to have a day off, was suppose to today but Carrie decided to work. After the 1st of the year she is going part time so maybe will have more "me" time! AND Chuck has to work Saturday so watching kids that day to. feel like I'm raising kids all over again! Hi Carolyn,I would love to read that book and I am planning on reading Carnies book aswell they both sound good.Janet is at her Chicago concert this week(I hope she is having a wonderful time)and yes one of these days we will have get together!As far as this Dr goes,the first guy I meet is a very nice man and I am sure the second one will be too just my opinion that if you pass the first ones eval the second one should be elective!Or for them to futher weed out those they feel need more time or really arent prepared for this change quite yet! Good job, Lori! The rode is getting shorter and shorter and soon you'll be on the adventure of your life! Haven't heard of the book, but sounds silly to have someone read it to you. Must be a little more involved - like trying to solve all of your probs with weight in 3 appointments. Hah!
