Surgery Monday
WEll congrats......I will be sending well wishes your way for a safe surgery and super speedy recovery!!! The liquids suck, but they are in your best interest...My surgeon didn't have a liquid diet or bowel prep or anything........My plans were a normal breakfast and lunch, make supper light, and nothing by mouth after midnight. I guess I kinda lucked out, all surgeons are so different! Again, wishing you the best!!! Take Care Jesi
Good luck on Monday, Nancy. You'll do fine. You are in good hands. Everyone thinks Dr G is brillant. In my opinion, he saved my life so I definately feel that way.
Liquids are awful but it really does help. A couple tips that may help. Tired of broth? Try regular soup well strained. It has much better flavor. Also if you find the need to chew, finger jello may do the trick. It is still considerd a liquid. Also snow cones or slushes help with the chewing. As a matter of fact, my snow cone maker was a real godsend for during the weeks after surgery as well. It helped me get in my liquids better & in smaller amounts & my pouch liked the icey liquids. You can buy snow cone makers or ice shavers really cheaply at Walmart and there are places that sell sugar free syrups just for them.

Hi Nancy. If you have having surgery with Glas**** I have a suggestion that helped me rremendously. I had my surgery this past Monday. The anesthesiologist gave me the option of a new spinal pain killer. He said it would last 24 hours and it did. I had no pain after surgery for those 24 hours. It was definitley worth it. The shot in the spine does not hurt. They deaden the area with something else first and that burns a little. The burning for a few seconds far outweighs the 24 hours of pain. Let me know how things go. I will be thinking of you.
