I just wanted to post a quick hello. My name is Stephanie, I'm married to Curtis, we have two children, Alexis (2) and Ty (1). We just moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa in August from St. Louis. And I feel so lucky that I live within 2 blocks of the hospital were I will ~hopefully~ be having WLS within the near future. So once again, HELLO!

Stephanie~~ welcome to Iowa. Dr. G is a wonderful surgeon and you're lucky you're getting in so quickly!!! I had my inital consultation with him in October 2003 and surgery was April 14, 2004. He does a lot of pre-op testing so if you need anything else done he'll see that you get it. I know a couple of us have found "unpleasant" surprises in our bodies thanks to his battery of tests. The office staff and nurses are just great at his office and also the ones at Sartori. Be sure and come to our next s/g meeting on November 2 at the hospital. Again, welcome to Iowa. Welcome, Stephanie. You picked the best when it comes to surgeons, at least in the eyes of his patients. I read your profile &it looks like things will be moving fast for you. How fortunate! If you are interestedin joininig the Yahoo group for Dr G's patients, just e-mail me & I'll send you the URL. We have become a close group of friends & everyone is very good support. We have pre-ops as well as post-ops, some at goal & some working toward it. Everyone is welcome. We'll get you through the 2 weeks of liquids. We all made it. It really isn't bad after the first couple days. Oh, by the way, CF is a great place to live. I was born there (at Sartori) & lived there until I got married. Dixie

Thanks Dixie for the warm welcome! Everything I've read or heard about Dr. Glas**** has been wonderful. I feel so lucky to have found him. Keep your eyes peeled for my email, I would LOVE to join the group. I have wonderful support from my husband, but it's so nice to have even more. And to be able to share some in return. Luckily, I started the WLS process a few months back, so hopefully the approval will come quickly. You know, when I first moved to CF it was ROUGH! We lived in a hotel in Waterloo for the first 2 weeks and it was hard with the little ones. Luckily we found a house to rent the night before the moving trucks came! We're only renting because we plan to move closer to St. Louis as soon as we can. Although I have really grown to love CF. It's a wonderful town. Thanks again!

Welcome ~ what brings you to Iowa?? Me and my family are planning a vacation to St. Louis late spring, early summer......We will have to talk more and you could tell me good places to go and see! I am in Dubuque about and hour and half from you, but we are in CF/w'loo a lot....usually twice a month! Hi Jesi, My husband got a GREAT (to say the least) job offer at the Target Distribution Center here. We had to take it! I was born and raised in St. Louis, so this was a MAJOR move for me. I drove through Dubuque a few weeks ago, of course it was because I missed my exit on a trip to St. Louis. It made a 6 hour trip into an 8 hour trip, it was a mess! Usually Curtis (my hubby), directs me, but he was blabbing away on his cell! At least we made it alive! I would love to share some ideas about St. Louis, how long are you staying there? Have you been before? If not, I'll give you the places you have got to go to. If you have been there, let me know where you've been, and I'll give you some fun ideas! Welcome Stephanie, I live in Dunkerton (very close to Waterloo-Cedar Falls) and had Dr. G. He is the best and has the best staff. I am glad things are going quickly for you, sometimes the waiting is the hardest part. I started the process in October of 2003, had surgery on June 2, 2004. Now I am down 80 pounds and feel great!
