Pre Existing Condition

I had our HR Department send me the info on short term disablity. The lady wasn't sure if this would be called a pre existing condition or not. UMMMM???? Can it be called that? Has anyone else had a problem getting their short term disablity? Any help would be great. Thanks, Michelle

YES! I had trouble collecting my short term disability because they said the weight was a pre-existing condition! They FINALLY paid, but only 8 weeks of the 12 I was off. My ins company was The Hartford...I think they suck! Tracie

Well, I talked to the HR person and she said she didn't think it would be a problem, but the company makes the final decision. I cannot file until I have a date. Wish me luck. thanks for responding. Michelle

I work for a health insurance company and it depends if they had an underwritter write in pre-existing in to the policy. It really sucks
