1 1/2 months out and 3 weeks of the scale not moving already??!?!?!
Jodi-
First of all take a deep breath and ask yourself if you could have lost 22 pounds in three weeks without the surgery. Probably not. Then take a minute to understand what your body is going through at this point. Not only is your body suffering from the effects of the surgery itself, but now it's pretty sure its starving! It's going to hold on to every ounce it can until it figures out this is not a crisis! Give it a little more time, measure yourself weekly, and stay off that #$%%^@ scale! I know it's hard, but the commercial is right- it will make you crazy! Also consider that surgery may get your cycles off course, and make you retain more fluids for awhile.
I agree with the others- keep track of your protein, drink till you think you may drown, and write down times, amounts, and, if it makes you feel better, calories of your 5-6 small meals daily. Most of all, be patient- it will happen for you!
Best of luck,
Jeri H.
Hiya Jodi...Hang in there girl, you are doing great! I think we have all went through the very same thing you are going through right now, heck I still do! Your body has to catch up...and soon you will be losing again! Like Carolyn said try eating several lil meals a day and increase your water, that too will come! We all want this soooooooooooo badly that we expect to lose instantly and always and it just doesn't work that way! Actually losing it slower is better for ya in the long run!!! The head games and what ifs are the hardest part about this surgery, does it get better...well I hope it does!
Again hang in there cus your doing great!!!!
Hugs,
Janet Schmidt
Jodi,
I'm so sorry that I didn't get a chance to respond sooner. My computer time has been limited this week and I am sick. On top of that, my two little ones have had the flu the past two days. A puking 2 year old is not fun at all..................
Know that what your body is doing now is normal. I think that we all went through that phase where your body thinks it is being starved and is going to hold on to every calorie. Everyone else has given you wonderful ideas - increase water, protein, exercise, etc. My only other suggestion would be to contact your surgeon's office and ask them about the number of meals and quantity that you should be having at each meal. Different programs have different recommendations. Do you see a dietician? If so, you could ask for some more info from him or her as well. The small snacking could be troublesome if it leads to grazing - I know from experience.
About the head games - I know that I have bad habits and fear that I will screw this surgery up. Because of that, I work with a psychologist and recommend to anyone that feels they may benefit to see a therapist. I am also now working with her about body image issues.
Hang in there hon - the journey is sometimes rough, but well worth it.
Please remember that we are here for you!
God bless,
Andrea
