I am a month out, and I've lost 22 pounds. However, I've only lost 2 pounds in the last two weeks! I'm following my diet, and exercising like I'm supposed to. What am I doing wrong? I eat three meals a day, with my protein drinks and fluids in between. I'm just really frustrated, I thought my weight loss would be more by now. Shelley Rath

I am pre-Op, but let me suggest maybe you are gaining muscle from excercising. Muscle weighs more than fat. Keep up the good work. Michelle

Shelley, Your body is trying to adjust to all of the changes. You will start losing again, just eat what your supposed to and get all of your liquids in. When you don't eat enough your body also thinks it's starving and hangs onto every morsel. I stalled at 2 wks after and it lasted a couple of weeks before starting up again. I'm almost 6 mo out and am down 95 lbs. Don't beat yourself up -- remember this is your journey and you don't have to "keep up" with anyone else. You'll get there -- and it's an incredible journey. Best of luck in your successes!!!! Janie Lap RNY 4/14/04 272/177/140?

I agree with Janie. What you are experiencing is very common. Your body is just catchng up. However, that doesn't make it any less exasperating. Just wait, soon you'll drop a few pounds just overnight & you'll be back on track. Dixie

Shelley, First of all - get rid of that scale!!! It can cause psychological damage in my opinion!!! I only weigh at the center after support group meetings or during appointments. I started that because I was catching myself on plateaus that were killing me! I couldn't take it any more, so I just quit weighing all of the time. Now, I totally agree with Janie and Dixie. In my opinion, your body is saying " Whoa, what's going on here - you are starving me." Because of that, it is holding on to every calorie. I think that at 3 or 4 weeks out, I didn't lose for about 2 weeks. YOu lost 2 pounds during your plateau - already doing better than me! Hang in there - hon. I know that it's not easy, but if you are doing what you are supposed to be doing, I have faith that you will be successful. Trust yourself. Trust your body. Take one day at a time - you will make it. God bless, Andrea
