Surgery Countdown!
Hello to everyone!
Well, all consulting, exams, and pre-op tests are over!
My surgery is Tuesday, September 28, at 8 AM at the Boone County Hospital. Dr. Sundberg will be master of ceremonies at this long-awaited event.
I actually lost 5 lbs. in the past week. I had sinus infection the week before and have just finsihed up 10 days of antibiotics. Antibiotics usually keep your appetite down anyway, so that is probabnly why I dropped some weight. But that is a good thing nonetheless.
Still going in at 5'7" and 295 lbs. They want me to get down to around 150, so I have to lose just under half of myself! We'll see how it goes.
I am not scared, just anxious and want to get it over with. My wife and kids are more scared that I am. I put my trust in God and Dr. Sundberg's capable hands. The rest should be a breeze with a positive attitude.
I'll let you all know how it's going when I get home from the hospital.

Steven.....how exciting!!!! Your rebirth is almost here!!! You are going to do fine. I believe that a positive attitude helps with healing. I understand the nervousness and your anxiety though! Best of luck and keep us posted. I'll be praying for a successful surgery with no complications!

Steven, congratulations, you will never regret it. Six months from now family members that haven't seen you in some time will not know you. Most of your weight loss is in the first six month. Your wife will love the new you. You will have more energy to do those honey do items... like going fishing.
Steven,
98% of all successful surgeries are because (this is my personal opinion) the patient has a good attitude.
I will pray on Tuesday that God will guide your surgeons hands, that all the staff in your room will have a good day, that peace and wonderful dreams will be yours as you go to sleep. That God's love will hold you and your family close. That your nurses on the floor will take excellent care and that soon you will be back to this board and the people who know exactly how you feel.
I am so excited for you....
Hugs from heaven
Melinda
Steven,
Sorry that I did not respond sooner - I've had limited computer time this week.
Wow - Tuesday - that is so close. Are you on a liquid diet now? Or is your doc one that lets you eat up until the day before surgery? I pray that everything will go well for you. That God will guide your surgeon's hands, that those that provide your care will do so with loving kindness and that recovery be swift and smooth. You will do wonderfully!
Know that it is normal for your family to be anxious and nervous - even for you to have a bit of anxiety. God will be with you all!
Keep up the positive attitude and I'll keep you in my prayers. Remember that we are here if you need us before surgery, too.
God's blessings to you,
Andrea
