DeeAnn, Wow - you are doing wonderfully with the weight loss and the exercising!!! Do you actually do the strength training every day? I was told you have to put a day in between lifting. (Actually, I do a circuit of machinery, much like Curves, but tailored for my needs.) Wow again, 91 pounds - doesn't it feel awesome!! Great work - I'm proud of you. I definitely think that healthy snacks are the way to go. Hang in there, you will nip the snacking in the budd!! Congrats again and God bless, Andrea

Laurie, You do wonderfully with your goals! You walk so much - how many miles are you up to now? Do you have a hard time fitting it in with the sports activities that Ashley is into? Keep up the good work and I'm going to have to try some good music for stress! God bless, Andrea

Hi everyone, Goals gotta hate em to love em! I still need to get in more water some days are good others not so good. I put the 2 bottles (33 oz) in the freezer at night then thaw one in the morning when I get up. I don't do ice anymore though, how about anyone else? I used to chew ice all day long now I don't go for it. Been riding the bike for exercise. For stress I walk or ride the bike. And if I'm stuck in the house I turn on the music & hop on the computer. Or I turn to sunflower seeds, let me ask is that really bad? I buy the kind I have to shell. Love those things & the good thing about chewing on those I cut down on smoking. Trading one evil for another? Hey Andrea what is that recipe that Jesi is talking about? I'm putting together a family cookbook sounds like something I would like to include. Goals: drink drink drink ride bike love me & my family Carolyn

I want to know about the sunflower seeds too. I eat the unshelled unsalted ones. I know it is fat but I thought it was the good kinda fat and it has protein in them. Am I dreaming or wishing it is a healthy snack? Melinda

Melinda, I think that it can be a healthy snack IF it is controlled and not becoming a bad habit like it was for me. But, here is my disclaimer again - check with your surgeon's office to be sure. Blessings, Andrea

Carolyn, You go on that bike, girl!!! I can just imagine you riding all around town talking to everyone as you go. Can't say much about the ice because I never did really chew it - sensitive teeth, ya know. I DO enjoy my drinks ice cold, however and will put ice in water, s/f tang, etc. Okay, sunflower seeds, and this will be my own personal opinion, so please don't take it as a rule. I think that eating them in the shell is a good way to preoccupy you if you think that you need that eating and shelling motion with your hands. I was hooked on them this summer when taking some classes towards my masters. What I found was that I was spending an awful lot of time eating the seeds. Sure, I did not get a lot of bulk from them, but I was ALWAYS eating them, it seemed. It got to the point that it just didn't seem healthy because I was turning to them so often. My opinion is that if you are having them in a controlled way and not eating too many, they are okay. Be sure to note the fat and calorie content, as well. Hope this helps - and please - ask your dietician, nutritionist or surgeon for a professional opinion (of which mine IS NOT, ) On another note, glad that you are cutting back on the cigs!! The recipe for the fruit tart is in another post with the "fried cheese" recipe. Have a great week with goals and God bless, Andrea

Hello All, Last week was not so good for goals. Didn't really meet any of them, but my excuse is . . .(well, I don't really have one). Last week was bad for my mood as well. I plan on doing better this week (like I ever plan on NOT doing better). 1. Remember to eat (believe it or not, not only do I currently not have a problem with grazing but the problem lies in actually remembering or wanting to eat anything at all). 2. Drink, Drink, Drink and then Drink (seems to be a problem too!) 3. Get back to curves (yes, this week I am really going to make it) 4. Spend quality time with the hubby!!! He really is neglected. Before surgery when I was stressed I really hit the food. I truly believed that stressed spelled backwards is desserts for a reason. But now I can't even think about food if I am stressing, it actually makes me sick. It is hard to put anything into my pouch when I am stressed out. I am not sure if this is good or bad, but it just is. TTFN Jackie

Jackie, Hi - how are you? I'm a bit concerned that you sound "down". What is stressing you so much? I'm also concerned that you may not be eating. Are you getting in your food as you are supposed to? Protein, supplements? You need to take care of YOU!! E-mail me or call me if you need to talk more, please! About hubby - they really do need some quality time, don't they. Remember during your busy day, that you work to make a living FOR your FAMILY. They come first. So, let's break this down, you need to focus on YOU and focus on FAMILY - got it??? Remember, we, your OH family, are here for you when you need us! HUGS and blessings, Andrea
