I got a surgery date yesterday for a hysterectomy.......I will be having my hysterectomy Oct 7th! I cannot have it vaginal because I have never given birth and I have a VERY tipped cervix/uterus! He will be going through my c-section scar! I got a call last night that everything was approved and the hospital even called with all my checkin info....Very excited to be ridding myself of this MAJOR problem, but of course scared of another major surgery! I should be in the hospital 2-3 days and it will be here in Dubuque! Anyone else have a hysterectomy and wanna share advice......I would love to hear from Lisa again or anyone else....I have a lot of questions about hormone replacement since I am only 26!! Well I am gonna get on track and eat well and try to exercise as much as possible...I want to be in good shape for my upcoming surgery, I have 19 days!!!! Wsih me luck Jesi

Jesi We will lift you up on prayer. You will be just fine. It is my personal opinion (take it for what it is worth) If I were to be having a hyster I would want it taken out through my c-section scar as well. Vaginally it looks like a mac truck driving through a garden hose. I just can't imagine that would be good on your body after that. Are they taking your ovaries as well? You will be just fine - you are healthier than you ever have been before. Plus with a board like ours - support is awesome!!! How is Katie? I have thought about her so much this week. Hugs from Heaven Melinda

HI Jesi, I can share a bit about my hysterectomy. First, I had much less pain from the hysterectomy than my gastric bypass & I had that laproscopicaly! That's good news. Getting up out of bed at the hospital was easier but similar as far as discomfort goes. I think it should be even easier for you since you have lost the weight. My surgeon took everything since there had been a concern about cancer so I was able to take hormone replacements. If you do it, insist on a patch. I read that absorbtion of the pills varies so with individuals and since we have that problem anyway, why take chances? I also learned that oral hormones don't work as well anyway. It has something to do with having to go through the liver. I have been fortunate in that I have never had a hot flash & started experimenting. I went several months without a patch & still didn't have one. However, I am back wearing it because I feel my weight came off faster when I wore them. That may be all in my head but right now I am willing to do almost anything to get my loss going better again. Of course, I'm old enough to be your mother (you're actually younger than my boys!) but I was so happy to have my hysterectomy and I really wasn't having problems like I suspect you are havng. It's so nice not to have to worry about accidents. No more cramps! And I can now "play" any day of the month! Did I really say that? Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions. I will answer them as well as I can. Dixie

Hi Jesi, the one thing I love is you can wear white anytime with no worries! Had mine in 01 & would do it over in a heartbeat! Mine was vaginal though. As far as hormone replacement, I DO NOT take any. I was on Premerin in the beginning but with the history of cancer & the heart not a good program. Funny, I don't have the hot flashes anymore I did when I was on the Premerin. You will do fine with your surgery, you are in much better condition for this surgery than you were for WLS. Ask away my dear Carolyn

Hiya Jesi...I don't think your gonna regret having this done at all!!! I know I haven't regretted it for one minute! I had mine done 7 yrs ago at the age of 31, they left both of my ovaries and since I have had to have one removed. Since they are taking it from you csection scar there should be no problem, you will know what to expect basically the same as having a csection w/o baby. I did have a few problems after mine, got infection and had to pack my belly for 8wks, actually my hubby and mom had to pack my belly as I couldn't even see my incision, cus it was where the sun don't shine LOL. About 4 months ago I saw my incision for the first time in 7 yrs.......so with that said your weightloss will help tremendously!!!! I know that they treat hormone replacement differently today as they have found out that the old way doesn't work....all you can do is try things and go from there. I take nothing as I still have an ovary. Good luck to you gf!!! Feel better sooooooooooooooon! If ya have any questions ask away..... Hugs, Janet Schmidt

OMG Jes! Good luck to you. You are so much braver than I. My GYNO scheduled me for Oct 4th for surgery...but i've cancelled. I have a couple of other avenues i am going to try first. I'm trying the patch..then if that doesn't regulate any..im trying depo provera again..even though i really dont want to. I just cant afford the 6 weeks off of work...plus dreading (like you said) another major surgery. I sure envy you getting rid of this problem. ~Dawn Phillips

Yeah I too tryed all my options....The patch did nothing for me! Depo was awesome when I used it back in highschool, but when I tryed it in the end of January I bled till almost June.....kinda started this whole downhill rollercoaster Would an ablation be an option for you?? You might wanna ask about it....I hear it works wonders for most....Unfortunately I have had two c-sections, one prenancy with twins and my uterine wall was too badly stretched and has remained thin, so I ended up not being a good candidate for the ablation. Hope all works out with you and you get this stuff figured out soon, believe me, I feel your pain!!! Take Care Jesi
