OT- Sad, sad, day
We just had our 14 3/4 yr old Collie put to sleep. She was such a wonderful dog, so smart and loving. I rescued her from the Animal Rescue League when she was about 4. She had been abused. Even tho she was a quiet dog, the house seems empty. I never want to go thru this pain again. We held until the end. She just peacefully went to sleep. I know that some day we will meet again.

Oh honey, do I ever feel for you! We had to put our 9 month old Tri-Color Collile down yesterday. He had a brain tumor which was causing him a great deal of pain and grand-mal seziures. It was horrific! Even though we only had him for 6 months, he was the most wonderful boy in the world!
(((((((BIG HUGS TO YOU))))))))
I know it's just like losing a family member, a child. My husband was training our Picaso to be a service dog for him and he was doing wonderfully. So so so so sad.
I'm so so sorry Lyn,

Hugs back to you. Doesn't it just suck? Collies are such wonderful dogs. So gentle and smart, usually. We did have a Collie prior to Casey that was as dumb as a box of rocks, but he was a lover. Casey hated him. We had to do dominace training with Casey since she was the newcomer. The first time she went after him was in the back yard. I had to get in her face, grab her cheeks, shout no and growl at her. I'm sure the neighbors had fun with that one! But it only took twice and she settled down.
Ohhh Lyn......I reply with tears in my eyes. My heart goes out to you.......Remember her with a smile for the joy and unconditional love that she gave you. Know that she was greatful that you 'rescued' her.
And you will meet her again.
I can't imagine life without my Abby-dog whom I've had for 5 1/2 yrs. In fact I just tell myself that she isn't going to get sick and/or die, or get any older. (ignorance is bliss.....) She is my baby.
Some people don't understand the pain and grief the loss of a pet can cause. My 18 yo cat died a couple of months ago, in my arms. I can't tell you how many people said "it was JUST a cat".........
Keep a happy face........you're in my prayers
God bless
Sheila
Lyn - and Tammy,
I'm so sorry that both of you have lost something that you loved. I don't know the pain of losing a pet and hope to not know that pain any time soon. However, I know that I will have to deal with it eventually. Don't know what the family would do without Gretel - our German Shorthair or Solomon - my cat.
Hugs to you both!!
God bless,
Andrea
