Dr. Myrie at Methodist
I am going through Dr. Myrie's office at Methodist for my surgery (which i hope will be soon...still waiting for them to call me back to set up second consult). Anyway...the reason for this post..the office manager from his office called me today to say as of December 31, 2004..Dr. Myrie will no longer be doing Bariatric surgery. She said it had to do with insurance cost reasons. Their office wanted to call all of their patients before it hit the media. She said that Dr. Myrie is disappointed that he will longer be able to perform the surgery because he does strongly believe in it and its success.
She did say that I would still be able to have my surgery with Dr. Myrie and my aftercare IF I still wanted it. Heck ya i still want it..is she crazy??

Good for you! But remember, if it happens that he is unable to do your surgery, there are still plenty of doctors out there that are still doing these surgeries. I think it's CRIMINAL the way the insurance companies are treating this surgery. So far it's track record is admirable, and I alone have saved them several thousands of dollars by getting off of all the meds I was taking before surgery. Humm- makes you wonder if the insurance companies are in cahoots with the drug companies???!!!
Keep your sunny side up!!

Dr Ac did my RNY Nov 2002 and after he was ran out of town ( Which I hate to say was a bunch of BS ) I switched to Dr Myrie And yes I too have recived a letter saying that they are droping RNY ???? WOI Tv called and asked to talk to me about this and I said I would also do a story on how Insurance comp. are the real problem not Healthcare itself If the Big Insurannce comp. were forced to strighten out and cover things like they should then The Healthcare problems would mostly go away.... And they said they would not today but they would !!!! Good luck
