BCBS Prior Approval

I was told I need to have a referral from my PCP to obtain "prior approval" for surgery. As if working towards ONE approval isn't enough, now I'm worrying about this prior approval. I called the ins. co. again today, and they finally show that they received the letter from my PCP, but that he didn't provide enough information. The insurance lady said they sent a letter to me and to the Dr. yesterday. I will find out this week what is missing, and then I will know what I need to bug the Dr to resend. I was afraid that I wouldn't have enough medical info to be approved in the first place because I've been on and off insurance for a while. The PCP who sent the letter only sent it after 1 visit with me. Hopefully, the infomation that is missing will be simple to provide... Sorry to whine about it all. I'm just frustrated. Has anyone else had experience with BCBS prior approval paper work?

I had BCBS Alliance Select 14 months ago when i had surgery, and my surgeons office did all the paperwork for me... wish i could help you better. I know that they approved me the same day they recieved the paperwork..but that was then and ive heard that things have changed for the worse.
