how long does it take?
Does anyone know how long it takes for your hair to start growing back in after you start to loose it? I am 3 1/2 months out and am having my hair fall out, which I knew would happen. I have been taking zink and am getting in all my protien. I was just wondering how long it will keep falling out? And how long before it starts to come back.
Also does anyone have the fear of not wanting to get to goal?
My goal is 135 from the Dr. but I don't want to get below 150. I have a friend who is taller than I am and she is down to 135 and looks way too thin. I don't want to look like that! Everyone is concerened about her as she looks sickly. I am about 25# from my goal, but some days I think I don't want to loose any more as I am happy right where I'm at.
I haven't posted in a while but am doing very well. I feel great! I should have done this years ago!!!!
My blood sugar is way down from 289 to 102!
My knees and joints feel better and I go this week to see if they can take me off my high blood pressure medicine!
Will try to post more than I have been. Hope all is well with you all!

Hi Cheri!
My personal opinion about a goal weight is that it's YOUR goal, not your doctor's. The number on the scale is also a little bit misleading, because someone with more muscle mass can weight more than someone who has more fat, but yet the muscular person can be a smaller size. You might be better off setting your goal at a certain size, or better yet, a certain fat to muscle ratio. You can buy a scale (mine is by Tanita) that measures your body fat. They probably aren't 100% accurate, but at least it gives you a good idea.
Also, as far as hair loss goes....make sure you're getting a good amount of biotin in your vitamins. I hear that's supposed to help.
Good work!!!!!

Cheri,
Sorry that you are losing your hair. I'm not a good one to talk to because I am still losing mine as well. I get in all of my protein and take zinc and it's still falling out and has been since about May. As a matter of fact, I no longer have the long curly hair as in my pic. It was looking too stringy, so had to have it cut and now it's about shoulder length (still naturally curly and looks thicker). I don't like it and miss my long hair - it was about down to my rear. I have been taking zinc lozenges for about the past month to see if that will help. I get them at the health food store and they actually look like a wafer that you suck on instead of chew. If you find a cure, please let me know. Oh, there ARE new little hairs growing back, just not at the same rate of loss, it seems.
About the goal weight - I feel the same way that you do. I don't have a real goal set yet, just "round about" numbers. My pcp wants me around 150-175 and surgeon said that under 200 was realistic. So, I think that I will aim for 175 and then see how I feel. (I am at 206 as of last Wednesday). I don't want to look sickly and don't think that I have the build to be really thin. I also have been walking for several months now and have just started a strengthening/toning and muscle building routine. So, have to keep in mind that those muscles will weigh more than this fat that I still carry around.
Wow - you are not far from your goal. I say to lose to the point that you feel comfortable with you. Talk with your doc and see if that is a good goal and feel proud of the accomplishment!!!
Good work and God bless,
Andrea
