4 days post-op WHAT HAVE I DONE TO MYSELF!!!!
I just got home yesterday from the hospital. The ride home (an hour and a half) just about killed me. I almost threw up quite a few times. I haven't been able to eat any thing or drink any thing bu****er since noon yesterday. I am so nauseated it is worse than the pain of the incision. I don't know why I am so sick feeling. My aunt told me it could be from the general aniteseia. How much longer do I have to feel like this. It is like having a bad bad flu. Getting up just makes me sick. I really have been wondering if I have done the right thing. What have I put my body through and will it ever forgive me for it!!!
Any suggestions on how to relieve the nausea?
Jodi,
You need to call your doctor. I had to have some meds for a few days once I got home. You have to get some nutrition into your body so your body will start to heal. It is a horrible first month for most of us - but you just have to push/pull through. I remember feeling the same way about my surgery. If you read Carol's post you'll see she is feeling the same way. Just remember we are all here for you and soon you will feel like a million bucks. Keep us posted... but call the doctor.
Hugs from Heaven
Melinda
Jodi, Yes we all have that though what did I do to myself. I also had the same problem and had to get some meds to help coat my stomach so I could eat, I couldn't even drink water. My doc wanted to readmit me but I said just give me something and let me go home. It does get better and you must get your nutrition even though it's small amounts it's very important. Try jello or cream of wheat you stomach needs something in it to help it settle down. Good luck and I'll keep you in my thoughts.
Hi Jodi!
This is Carol the afore mentioned from Melinda. I could keep stuff down right away - but I know the feeling of "What the F*** did I do thing." I'm already trying solid foods just doing the trial and error method. We are all different and our bodies react differently, but I agree that you should contact your doctor right away! My doctor told me to call him no matter what - and I have! Hang in there hon - we are all pulling for you! If you need to talk email me at [email protected].
You take care and keep us posted. As Melinda told and the others told me this board is one of the most important tools right after your surgery. May God be with you!
Carol
Oh, Jodi,
I'm so sorry that you hurt, honey. I remember that feeling. I had to call the surgeon's office and they called in a supository that took away the nauseated feeling. After a day or so of that, things got better right away and then I was able to eat something. Be sure not to push too many foods when your new little tummy is feeling this way. If you can eat, follow your surgeon's plans. If you cannot eat, keep working on the fluids- they are most important now. Does your surgeon have you drinking protein drinks? If so, work on getting one of those down.
Hang in there, hon. Your body will heal and you will begin to see some wonderful changes real soon!
God bless,
Andrea
