HUNGRY ALL THE TIME

I am having that fear that I stretched my pouch or something, I wake up hungry lately and want to just eat and eat like before. I have been eating a little more which seems like a lot to me. 3 meals and now I just want to snack on crunchy things all the time. I don't get that full stabbing feeling anymore in my chest, I just feel bloated and tired now. I am taking my vitamins and trying to get in all the fluids but it's scary to think I may have stretched my pouch out. I am almost 7 months out now. Did anyone who is this far or further go through this? Thanks for any insight on this.

Hi Leslea: I'm right there with you. I had my surgery Feb 3, 2004. I am hungry alot of the time. I always want to snack. I think that alot of it is old emotional behavior. I do know that I can't eat anywhere near what I used to eat, but the snacking thing is just a huge challenge. From reading these boards it seems like alot of other OH friends struggle with this too. I think sometimes we forget just how much we used to eat. I don't think I've given you too much insight, just another comrade going through the same thing. Eileen P.S. I do find it easier to control when I get my protein in. It helps cut down on the cravings.

Leslea, Hi - I can't say that I have gone through that - because I still get really full. In terms of getting hungry, I think that I only experience hunger every now and then. If it is hunger, it is a new feeling - not like the hunger pre-surgery. Normally, I do not get hungery. Do I want to eat? Yep - all of the time, I fight the urges to snack. I don't win sometimes, either, but try to choose good snacks. Often, when I experience "head hunger", I try to chew a piece of gum or drink more. That helps curb the munchies. Hope this helps, God bless, Andrea
