I have a ?
Has anyone my size (before WLS) got away w/o having a tummy tuck or anything afterwards? I had a BMI of 61.1 and now it is 59.5. If I excercise and drink my water, can I get out of that? LOL! I'm thinking that I won't. Also, I wonder if anyone with a BMI that high has made it to their doc's goal weight for them? I am shocked he thinks I will get to 141.
Thanks,
Michelle
Well, Michelle, my BMI wa 56 and now 8 months later, with a BMI of 34.9, I have lots of hanging flesh on my tummy but worse on my thighs.
However, since you want to have a child, you obviously are lots younger than I am! That works in your favor. You will probably have more than you want but maybe you can get away without needing a tummy tuck. Definately wait until after having a baby.
I don't know if it helps but I rub lotion on my thighs, legs, and upper arms every night. I figure the better condition they are in the more likely they will shrink back. Well, I can dream, I guess.

Michelle,
A lot of it depends on age. I am 42 and know that I will be hanging out with Dr. Montag one of these days. I have a friend that is in her early 20's and I don't think she will need anything - plus she doesn't want to do anything until she has babies. It also depends on how long you were obese. My late 20's and early 30's my skin seemed to go back when I would yo yo. Most consults with plastic guys can be done free - make sure to ask when making your appt. Check it out and see what he thinks.
Hope this helps...

Michelle,
I think that the need for plastic surgery depends on a lot of things, but mostly the elasticity of your skin. I am 36 and started this journey at well over 300 pounds. Needless to say, I now have a lot of loose flesh - actually sunburned loose flesh today, because I hit the tanning bed the past two days and had never done that before. My belly button has not seen the sun EVER until yesterday. OUCH!!
Good luck in your journey,
God bless,
Andrea
