Good afternoon everyone, How was your last week? I did good on the walking, didn't do any strengthening exercised, did combine the two food logs, did not do as well with eating the end of the week - did good the beginning of the week, however. So, accomplished 2 goals and half of two others, not too bad, I guess. Going to do better this week, though. BTW, hubby pointed out to me today that if I don't walk, it REALLY affects my mood. So, made sure to walk this morning! Goals for this week: 1) Continue to walk and find an alternative for the school year. Going to do strengthening exercises when I join the gym. 2) Keep the food logs and monitor calories for the week. 3) Set times for eating and don't graze in between (remember, gum or drink something instead). 4) Limit carbs/starches. I know, I sound like a broken record, sorry. Now, let's get everyone to pipe up and say "hello" this fine Monday. I challenge all you lurkers to post - come on, give me a lot to respond to. I only have a little over a week before I start working full time again and life will get hectic - don't know if I will be able to reply to everyone's posts then. How busy can you make me this week? Generic question of the day - when do your kids go back to school? My kids start this Wednesday, the 18th, but Davenport kids don't start until the 30th. I go back to school the 25th. Hope that everyone has a blessed week. God bless, Andrea P.S. Remember, copy and paste your goals into your word processing program to print. It helps to hold you more accountable!

Hey Andrea, Keep it up GIRL... those broken records are just habits forming in your head and heart.... all of us REALLY need the re-enforcement, even on maintenance... (well me anyway ) I for one LOVE IT!!! Goals are mostly reflective in nature this week; don't get all wraped around the axle over small stuff... AND it's all small stuff. 1 Pray and meditate; start my day with prayer and thanks 2 Walk and take the stairs at work 3 Do Nautilus 4 Get my YW membership going 5 Do my volunteer training for Obesity Help so I can start contacting the NEWBIES and offering support 6 Make an attempt to get clothing organized... God Bless Paula

Paula, Keep up the good work. I know that you will find time for all goals and will do well if you only start out with goal number 1. Prayer helps us to accomplish wonderful things. God bless, Andrea

Hi, I am a lurker. Thought I would pipe in. Is it ok to give my goals? I haven't had WLS yet. I have to get 30lbs off before surgery. I have not been weighing so I do not know how much I have lost. My surgeon gave me a two month goal to do this and that was Aug 3rd. So, I thought I would make some goals here: 1. Excercise 2. get in all my water 3. no snacking 4. eat well balanced meals Thanks! Welcome Michelle..... There are no lurkers here only friends. I had to lose some before my surgery as well. Feel free to chime in anytime... at first it feels a little weird but the gang is "da bomb" (as my 4 yr old would say) Start making goals now and trying hard to follow through then... after surgery it won't be so hard. Welcome aboard - we hope you have a wonderful trip. Have a good week..... Melinda

Michelle, Welcome to a wonderful place!! The people on the Iowa boards here at OH are so supportive that everyone seems like family. You are more than welcome to chime in anytime, especially on these goal posts. Please remember that we are here for you and post often so we get to know you better. Keep up on those goals and you will have those 30 pounds off in no time!! Welcome again and God bless, Andrea P.S. Sorry if this pops up before Melinda's post because she had a wonderful, warm welcome for you as well.

Andrea: I did actually get my strength training and crunches done this last week! I'm doing better with carbs, but still snacking some. guess it's not so bad, if it's a planned snack, and a healthy one, but's it's the mindless grazing, on what ever we find, that gets us in trouble! My kids start back to school in Clear Lake, on Monday Aug. 23. Yeah!!!! My goals for this week are: 1.) do those dreaded crunches and strength exercises!! 2.) Go through my closet and get rid of all those too big clothes!! 3.) Get my water and protein in. 4.) Limit snacking, make sure snacks are healthy!! 5.) Lurk less, post more!! Hope everyone else has a good week, and the scales are kind to all!!

Deeann, What a healthy attitude about everything! It sounds like you are doing well on your goals - better than I am, especially with that strengthening and crunches!!! I think that you are 100% right - that it is the mindless grazing that gets us in trouble, but the controlled and planned snacking is not that bad. When you are done with that closet, will you please come and go through mine??? Looking forward to more posts from you, God bless, Andrea
