Donna-
I just had to get an approval from BCBS for my tummy tuck and it took over two weeks. I was told that they are overloaded with requests for preauthorization and it is taking between 3 - 4 weeks.
There is also an insurance forum on this site that gives everyone's experience with insurance companies. It was helpful when I was waiting for approval last fall.
Good Luck!

At the time that i applied for approval, i had BCBS Alliance select and they approved mine the same day they recieved it. I'm sure things have changed in the last year+. Insurance companies (it seems ALL of them) are being total *******s (excuse if i offended) about this surgery. Be glad that you have BCBS Alliance Select..they are one of the few that are still approving pretty good. My employer just recently changed ins. companies to one that EXCLUDES gastric bypass...even everything that has to do with one you have already had done. SOooooo now if i have complications, i have to pay for them out of my pocket. sucks. If ANYONE has to choose whether to have Midland's Choice Insurance or not... choose not...it's not worth it. ~~Dawn Phillips
