HOUSTON: WE HAVE APPROVAL & DATE!
My Surgeon's office called this morning and said I was approved via medicaid - Hot Damn! I just have to have my family physician physical and my cardio preop exam and they will be ready to schedule it next Wednesday! That's August 11th!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it! What to do?.....I think it is best that it is so soon -won't give me time to worry as much! My friend is taking me to Kenny Chesney at UNI Dome on Friday night to celebrate! What do I need to take to hospital, how do I need to prepare my home - I say screw the cleaning!...lol For those of you who had Dr. Shinnerl what what foods/liquids do I need to stock up on? I'm having open in Sioux City. I'll keep you all updated! I have my Family Dr. Physical this Friday and my Cardio Preop exam this coming Monday! I hope Janet will help me post for you guys. I'm sooooo excited! Thank you all for being there for me and I hope to be on the losing side soon! Love and Hugs to All!

Carol...
It's been a long time coming:
Remember to get your bills caught up (just incase you don't feel up to it after... I didn't and they shut the water off....YIKES ) also take some nice jammies and a robe they do let you wear them before (way better than those ugly hospital things)... I wore mine home.
I am praying for you
God Bless
Paula
Carol,
It's about time! Glad that things are working out for you. One bit of pre-op advice - take a bath. I love to see how I fit differently in the bath tub a couple of times a month. It has been a great measuring tool for me and type of relaxation to boot!
Keep us updated on all those tests before next week.
God bless,
Andrea
Congratulations........
You are really lucky not to have to think about this for weeks on end. Take some kind of easy on/easy off shoes because they will get you walking. Wear clothes that will be comfortable to go home in. Don't worry about fancy pj's just wear the hospital gowns. Ask the nurse to put a bath blanket under the fitted sheet on the hospital bed this will keep you from sweating and hearing the plastic while you sleep and move around. Don't wear any makeup or nail polish to the hospital it is a pain for the hospital staff and it will look really bad when you wake up anyway. Wash your hair really good the morning of surgery, don't fix it, and don't put any products in it - this will keep your hair cleaner longer. It sucks to try and shower with tubes and drains in your body. Take your own pillow with your own pillow case so that you can have a good nights sleep. I work in an OR and watched for a long time so that I knew what to do when it was my turn.
If there is anything we can do to help and support let us know.
Congrats
Melinda
