Bits and Pieces......

Good Evening All Of You Beautiful People....... I just had a couple of things to share and a slightly embarrassing thing to ask. First... Quizno's has new salads. The one (or part) I had tonight has grilled chicken, cheeses, and of course greens. The melt the cheese over the chicken. I also opted for a different dressing and asked for more cheese (protein). It was wonderful... I just regret not being able to eat more of it (no I don't) But the entire salad only had 10 carbs in it. Next... I was given a free sample of Deveron (I can't spell) it is an internal stink remover for gas. I have to say it works. Does anyone use this? I was just wondering if I just got lucky or does it really work? Last... I have the worst gas in the afternoons. At times while I am scrubbed in I am in pain. I can't poot there in the room - if it were just for smell I could pass it off onto my patients. But mine are noisy... On breaks I go hide in empty rooms and poot just so I feel better. There are times when it just sneaks out and I jump for fear someone is behind me. This is the worst part about having a BPD. So other than Gas-X (which hasn't seemed to help) and Beno only helps with certain foods. Is anyone else taking anything to fight the nasty poots with? I am going to ask the doctor as my next appt if he has a precpt. Right now I hate to cuddle with my husband for fear of turning him off from the gas. Oh well good thing you can't see my face.... geeezzzz Thanks for the support - you guys are the best!!! Melinda

We tease about this ALL the time... but it's a REAL problem! I would definitely try the medicine. I also use gas-X, that seems to settle things for the other end. Mine poots are SBDs (silent but deadly), and I have the luxury of blaming our cat (Newman) whose gas is notorious without my help. This is kind of weird but I also try to have more than one bowel movement per day... I know it's weird but if I do that I find it's doesn't hurt so bad with the gas build up..... (can't believe I actually typed this... how embarrassing) BTW what is a BPD? There are other GNC and health aids besides beano... maybe Love ya smelly belly, Paula

BPD - Billiary Pancreatic Diversion. It was the type of WLS I chose to have instead of a RNY. I have more stomach than you but my intestines were rearranged so that I can not absorb fat. BPD's are not supposed to have the dumping syndrome. Gas is one of the worst side effects. Thanks for the poot support. If my kids were babies and couldn't tell on me I could blame it on them... but since they are 6 & 4 they are like "mom, you stink" Maybe I should get a cat... Later girlie... Hugs from heaven Melinda

Melinda, Yep - got gas, badly sometimes. I just try to find a quiet place to release them. It has to be soooooo hard in an OR setting. I would explode. If I am somewhere and have to hold a toot, I get really bad pains in my tummy. I have to take a tums or something and that seems to help. Hope the doc can give you something to help out. God bless, Andrea
