Has anyone had surgery in or around Pella?

I have a friend in Pella, that has a referral but has no idea about Doctors. She is scared to death. I had my surgery in Oklahoma by Dr. Gorospe and have done wonderful. I need info if anyone has any. If not Pella, where? Thanks

I went to Iowa City.....since going there my surgeon has quit and I hear the wait time is long!!! I have a great friend on here who went through Genesis in Davenport.....they have a remarkable (new) program with great patient care, I actually go to there support meetings! Worth the drive! There is Grinell, Waterloo, Rock Island.......just to name a few! Wish her the best of luck and tell her to come here......The Iowa site is very supportive!!! Jesi

Donna, I am the one that Jesi referred to that had surgery through the Genesis Center for Bariatric Surgery in Davenport, Iowa. The program is newer, but wonderful and with tremendous follow-up care. E-mail if you would like some more info. God bless, Andrea

I first tried to go to Iowa City but the wait was ridiculous and the stuff you had to go through to get approved was a long process. SO I turned to the Barix clinics in Belvidere, IL (right by Rockford). WLS is all they do! They are wonderful. It is a drive but I believe it was VERY worth it.

I also went to Trinity in Moline and Dr.Siegert was my doc I'm really happy so far and been treated great. Have your friend go online and ask questions she would get them answered quickly and maybe help her with her questions she has. good luck Bret

I had my surgery in Ames at the Mary Greeley Medical Center with Dr. Hardy. Hardly any wait time, no phsych evaluation, not a lot of absurd testing and the staff was wonderful. I would highly recommend them.

Donna, Pella is pretty close to Grinnell -Dr's Schwartz, Eibes and Coster (I believe) and they have an excellent reputation. Also, she's not far from Des Moines - there's the Mercy Capitol Group - Dr's Beck and Cahalan and then Methodist - Dr. Myrie. All of these docs have done many surgeries, open and closed. My surgery was at Methodist in Des Moines, Mercy Medical Center in Des moines also has a bariatric program.
