8/2 Goals and Roll Call

OK, I'm going to try this. I've been stuck for two weeks, and it's making me crazy. I have a lot of goals, but I've learned I'm better to pick a few to work on, rather than try to do it all and fail! 1. Get more protein in...found two new things: Quaker Oats "Q-Smart" bars...peanut/butter choc is good, low sugar/fat, 11 g of protein. Also Total Protein cereal...take some in a baggie to munch on at work, 13 g of protein. And making myself drink a protein shake each morning. I've been bad about that for about 6 weeks. 2. Take my vitamins every day. I'm doing better with that...got lax there, too. 3. Drink more water. 4. Get my butt over to the fitness club (it's across the street, for goodness sake!)... I'm trying to up my time on that Eliptical torture thing. Plus our big new mall opens in WDM this week, and I'm taking the day off Wed to go with some friends. I can get some walking in that day, right?! Francie P -52.5 lbs (and STUCK!)

Hang in there, Francie. Do everything that you know is right to boost that loss again. And, Yep - I think that mall walking counts! Glad that you have goals this week! God bless, Andrea

Goals for this week: I want to try to cut my salt intake in half (too much beef jerky) and shrink the intake of fat free pringles to 1/2 a serving a day. Water Water Water Water, in the mouth and in the pool for excersize! Non weight related goal, but it will occupy my hands at night: write thank you notes to people that I havn't taken enough time to appreciate lately. This should help me with my grazing syndrome. Excersize at least 5 times this week. It's great to be back on the boards,I really missed everyone while I was on vacation. Peace to all, Eileen Eileen

Missed you, too, Eileen. Good idea to do something at night to occupy hands. I will have to start crocheting again. I made my mom a beautiful afghan right after surgery. I crocheted all of the time then to keep myself busy. I will have to do that again. Have fun at the pool! God bless, Andrea

Hello all, Last week was not so good on goals. First, I had the dreaded monthly and it was killer, ended up in ER for excessive bleeding. Now, I get to have another surgery this summer. Actually, on my first day back at school (great timing, but better then than when the kids come back). So I was really run down and weak. Also, we had 4H fair and I was gone for that everyday. My 4H kids did terrific! They took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in all their categories, these kids have never shown before and a couple of the llamas hadn't either. I was soooo proud of them. This weeks goals: 1. FLUIDS 2. Supplements (This is really not going well, lately!) 3. Keep my food log (I made one you would think I would use it?) 4. Curves! I love going to curves! 5. Find time to meditate (I need inner peace) 6. Did I ever get the upstairs organized? Hmmmm, I still have that goal (the road to hell and all). Andrea, is it possible for you to drink some water every time you think about grazing? Then you would have to wait 30 min before being able to eat and maybe the temptation would pass. Give it a try. Love you all, this is a terrific group of people! TTFN Jackie

Jackie, Sorry to hear that you are having female probs. E-mail me to fill me in, or you can come visit and fill me in then. Congrats to the kids! I used to love 4H, but only did cooking and crafts, etc. Even did the county fair one year and tied for Junior Champion Cook! Go figure - I am a good cook! LOL Keep that food log, girl. It is really a good one to log just about everything on. I am trying to use it this week, too. Wow - tha****er trick is like - duh = slap me in the face with common sense, (which I lack sometimes). I will give that a try. Sometimes do that with a protein drink, but not with water. Thanks for the idea. God bless, Andrea

Hi I did TRY to do my goals, but am sick. I still can't keep food down or water, and I go in Thursday August 5 for the EGD, wish I had it done yesterday. I did walk 2 and a half miles on Saturday, and a mile on Wednesday (since Ragbrai was in Marshalltown). Goals are the same after the procedure: 1) drink water 2) walk walk walk 3) Get rid of this cold by Thursday Let you know how things go on Thursday Thanks Lisa Young

Oh, Lisa, I feel so bad for you. I'm assuming that the EGD is the tube /scope that expands the stoma?>?> Remember, I lack common sense sometimes. And on top of that, you have a cold? I wish that I were there to crush your meds and help you to feel better. Get lots of rest and take some extra vitamin C. Have you ever tried ZiCam? I use it often, especially during the school year. Keep us updated about Thursday! God bless, Andrea
