I did a dumb thing.....
I can eat KFC's crispy chicken strips and have no problems. I usually peel away some of the breading and try to eat the chicken.
Today Olivia and I were out and she wanted some Mc'D's - they have a new chicken strips. I had one strip and about 6 fries. I felt like crap afterward. I don't know if I dumped or not - - - I got really hot, nausea, and all I wanted to do was lay down. So I will never partake of the McD's again.
The past couple of days I have felt like I was back to my original weight. There are days when I feel not skinny but getting normal. But the past couple of days I have felt like I was a cow. I have consumed some carbs lately so I am hoping that I haven't consumed too many. I need to find out what my max carbs are.
One last thing... This afternoon we went to the pool. (public pool) I saw this poor lady who was just so big. The way she carried her body is the way I have carried mine for years. Trying hard to pull everything in so I am not noticed or made fun of. I know this sounds vein but I just wanted to walk up and tell her I know a surgeon that can help you get your confidence back. I am not saying I am better because I have had a BPD done - but now I just want to help others feel better.
Well I better chase my kids out from in front of the TV
later guys!!
Melinda
I know what you mean about the lady at the pool. Since I've had surgery, I've really noticed how fat many people are. Morbid obesity is running rampant. I would really like to approach some of these people and tell them there is hope and they can lose the wt with surgery. But I keep my mouth shut. Someone said that they wanted to wear a tee shirt that says "Ask me about WLS". A grand idea!
Melinda,
Sorry to hear that you had problems with the chicken strips. Some people do have probs with fried foods. Carnie Wilson even said that she has problems whenever she has tried fried stuff. I know that I got sick on taco bell and people say that they usually can eat it easily. Our little tummies are so finicky sometimes. Sorry, but it certainly sounds like you dumped!
I'm all for t-shirts that say something like Lyn suggested.
God bless,
Andrea
Hi Melinda!
Sorry that you felt like crud after eating at Mickey D's Supper Club...
Just curious...I'm not that really 'up" on the DS; but, I thought that one of the finer 'selling' points of the DS was that there was no Dumping Syndrome?
As far as informing others of surgery...I know what you mean; but, I also remember how I would have felt if the roles were reversed...probably embarrassed. It's a very personal decision, one that ultimately took me five years to make...
I am sooo glad that you are doing well; and, keep updating us, OK?

Melinda, I also have been noticing how others look but I am still heavy and can not yet imagine looking normal which is very frustrating. As far as the T-shirts in the obesity Help Mag they do have about 4-6 different shirt styles that say exactly that Ask me about WLS and other things like that. Should be able to find on the general web site. I think they run about $20-30.
Hey Melinda
Yeah Sweetie pretty sure you dumped but hey --you lived through it!
(not fun at all and if I had it in MY power none of us would have to go through it. But it does keep you thinking about eating what's best!!!)
BTW after awhile you do notice heavy people and think "I am sooo glad that's not me anylonger" I think it's common, no it's not vain. Yes you want to run up to them and hey "I weighed 309 lbs and look at me now!" "ASK ME HOW TO TAKE BACK YOUR LIFE!" BUT weight issues in this country ARE SOOOO touchy, many people are closed off to the idea of WLS, and the public is for the most part ignorant of what it consists of. I have softly approached a lady I work with (over 400 lbs) and she is extremely negative about the surgery even though she's almost in a wheelchair from joint problems, and they won't do surgery until she loses 200 lbs. She says I would NEVER do that to my body!!!!! And what about the horrible scar! (I want to tell her that Victoria Secret has all their underwear model positions filled so I am staying at this job... hence the scar isn't an issue!!!
but it very obvious that the scar ISN'T her issue -- merely an excuse. SOOOO I just change the subject and figure I the only person I can CHNAGE is ME, I can only INFLUENCE those around me by my words and deeds, the rest is up to them.
That said news of success travel fast and people do see the change and I have gotten calls and inquiries from relatives/friends that tell others about the amazing change. So people do talk to you about it, and I like that better, it's their decision.
Enough of my rant... TTFN
take care and NO Mickey D's fried stuff for awhile!!!!!
GOD BLESS
Paula
