My dh called his company and was told they dropped wls benifit as of Jan. 04. Of course we didn't find this out until they sent a new booklet and a letter stating our old book had a miss print. Also found out from ins. co they will not pay for my phsy. eval ($260) I had last month even though I called the ins. co. (last month) to make sure I didn't need preapproval!!!!! Dh called ins. co. and stated we will appeal and was don"t bother cause it won't do any good cause you can't appeal for something you don't have a benifit for.

Do you have the original policy that had the wls in it? do you have a paper at all that states you were approved for wls? I believe somewhere here there is info re: legal issues check it out or even call a lawyer to see if you have a case. Has your husband talked with his employer? From my understanding it is a benefit the employer chooses or not to have as a benefit. So good luck!

All I have is the policy book that they said was a miss print. I hadn't been approved for wls as the next step was to see the surgeon and I was to do that wed. After that then we would of been able to put in for approvel. I guess I should be grateful I didn't do the surgeon cause I would of had to pay for that also. My dh had talked to employer and in so many words was told "too bad, go on a diet".

I wonder if there is a clause in there somewhere in the book. Your blue cross blue shield?? I can't get my book out right now without waking my husband. I work 3 rd shift and its my night off and I got to be quiet and not wake anyone. I will look later at mine and email or post you back. In the mean time maybe someone else would have a suggestion. Did you check into the vocational rehab that sherry had posted? Sorry not much help at this time. Insurance companies are so fineky I know that from being a nurse. so I feel for you!

Have you had your husband talk to his employer? It is not BCBS that has put that exclusion in, it is most likely the employer. Employers get better rates for excluding certain services. That is where I would start.

Yes the employer put the exclusion in and when asked why they said and I quote "It cost to damn much money". End of story.
