Hey all!! New to this board, live in sioux city and...
Hi Steve, and welcome. I can't tell you much about lap surgery, because I had open RNY. I can say that this place is great for information. Do a lot of research and talk to a lot of people to help make your decision. Most of all, see what your personal physician says.
Welcome again, post often so we can get to know you better.
God bless,
Andrea
Hi, Steve
I had lap. rny on June 2 this year and doing great. Have you had a consoltation for surgery yet? Have you researched different doctors or types of surgery? This is THE website to get great information, but remember we only have our own opinions here, you need to talk to a professional about the surgery to get what is best for you. But we can help you learn to ask great questions! WELCOME!

Hi Steve, and I to want to welcome you to this site. I would like to say that for moral support, needing a ear, or just to chat, this is the best site that I have found that you can come to, and be yourself. Everyone here is here for each other. I am waiting to have the surgery, waiting to get the date set anyways. Have all my other pre ops done that the doctor wanted done except seeing their phsy. doctor. There's lots to read about having this surgery done, and as a individual I to encourage you to read up on as much stuff about the surgery as you can. Know that we are all here for support, and never fill frustrated if you ask the same questions over, and over, that's how you will learn. Hold your chin up, and good luck in what ever you choose to do. ~ Pam
THANX for your reply Pam. I am in the 'infancy' stage for sure @ all this. All I know is the medications I've been on and old age , etc, etc have combined to get more 150 lbs overweight and NOTHING seems to work to get it OFF! There was an obesity 'clinic' a DR David Hall that sent me some pre-op forms BUT when I sent them in I got back a letter saying my 'out-of-pocket 'expenses would be over $30,000 putting me WAY beyond this surgery . So I dont know what else to do. As I am a Iowa citizen does their University hospitals do 'pro-bono work. As I am on 'leave-of-absence ' tdue to all these medical problems. Including depression. TIA
