Why do I have to learn EVERYTHING the hard way?
Sunday is my 1 year anniversary. Yes, 365 days ago, I had this wonderful surgery- and I wouldn't change a single day. I've been lucky to have had great support, very few side effects and pretty good results- 118 pounds down. HOWEVER, for the past 4 months I have lost very little because I just didn't listen to the right people. In March I started at a gym, with a very well meaning, although mis-informed trainer. Instead of listening to the surgeon, who I only saw every few months, I listened to the trainer I saw almost every day. I increased the amount of carbs I was eating- for energy, so I could exercise more. Instead, I slowed my loss to a mere 14 pounds in 4 months. After talking to the surgeon Wednesday (who said I was eating way too many carbs AND NOT ENOUGH FAT!!!!), I think I'm back on track. Yes, he actually said to increase my fat intake- not fried foods, but to give up the low fat milk, use real butter, etc. I asked him 3 times if he was sure! I hope that I can loose the remaining 60 pounds that will bring me to goal, and please, anyone out there, learn from my mistakes. I should have listened to you all instead! You are all such positvie and inspiring people.
Thanks,
Jeri H.
Why? Because we are hard-headed, independant, and still afraid of failing enough that we will do anything if we think it will help! It is hard to believe it has been a year already! you are doing great. So good to see your face again......when do we get a new pic? LOL Like I have room to talk! (((HUGS))) Elizabeth
Wow, Jeri, we haven't seen you around in a while. Glad to see you back. I can't believe that a trainer told you to increase carbs. Sometimes, we are so gullible. Glad that your surgeon got you back on track. My mouth is almos****ering at the thought of eating more fats! I don't get many fats in at all and am supposed to be getting some in. Just isn't the same unless it is spread all over something starchy - bread, crackers, etc......
Remember, that you have probably also lost fat pounds but increased lean muscle mass. Don't lessen the importance of the exercise and working out that you have been doing!!!
Now, about that new picture.................?????????????????
God bless,
Andrea
