Carolyn, no I was denied for title 19 but given the option for state papers. With state papers all of my medical issues will be handled in Iowa City for no cost. Just wondering if anyone had any experience, or knew of anyone with state papers. -Miranda

Hi Miranda, I had state papers for about 2 1/2 years. I know it enabled me to be picked by their van and transported with 8 other people to Univ of Ia hospital and clinics for medical care. I was boarded there on site and they gave you vouchers for meals at the hospital. All your prescriptions that were prescribed there were covered and you could get a 90 day supply. You get assigned a case manager that is like GOD, she decides what medical care you get, what clinics you see. I wasn't happy with the whole experience. I couldn't get referred to the clinics I felt I needed to see. The whole process is pretty slow, takes time to set up the appointments. The doctors and nurses are nice, but when you have really bad asthma and the doctor is more concerned with pap smears and mamagrams, well you get the picture. Now I have talked to people that have had a great experience on state papers, so I will pray that is the case for you!! I hope this helped and I'm sorry I'm so negative. I did have a heart bypass there on state papers, and I don't think I could of gotten better care anywhere else. Alot depends on the case manager you get and the family clinic doctor you get, they have all the power! Best wishes to you.
